medela is the best pump you can get I have one myself and i love it..they are a bit pricey though but its worth it.
Any suggestions on what bottles to use with the Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump? OR any suggestions on what Breast Pump to purchase? THANKS!
It depends on how often you pump and what your expectation is. Some like the manual pump, while some prefer the electric pump. Most moms recommended Medela, while some moms prefer a different brand. Look at the article for more advice.

Medela, the double pump saves time and I used it for 13 months, about 5-6 times a day, without a problem. It works great. Its worth the investment and it will last if you have another baby.
Medela Pump In Style Advanced..either backpack or other bag type is up to you..I am pumping exclusively & it works great!
I have to join in and sing my praises for the Medella!
I used the Medela double pump that I purchased at Target and was very happy with it. What a great gift you are giving your child!
Go with the Medela Pump in Style or Ameda Purely Yours. Medela makes bottles that are "safe" plastic that fit their pump, but I have found that there are quite a few other brands that fit as well. I don't know about the Ameda.
Good Luck:)
Honestly, I have used 2 different ones and rented the third from the hospital I gave birth at. I wish I wouldn't have wasted money on the pumps (sorry I cannot remember the brands. But one was a double-it was horrible and the second a hand held and hand pumped single. This was was much better, but still paled compared to the one from the hospital) I would talk to the lactation consultant (wonderful group of people) and ask about renting. They will also let you use it at the hospital. Getting the right pump seriously can make or break your breastfeeding experience. Call the lactation consultant at the hospital. Good luck.
I used a Bailey pump with 1st and I hated it. You had to create your own suction. I bought a Medela PIS at a rummage sale this time and purchased all new parts so I was only reusing the motor and I love it! I wish I would have bought it the first time. It seems like such a huge expense, but I have thought it over and I saved us over $1000 by nursing the first 6 months. Just think if you never had to buy formula!
I got a Medela double breast pump on line. They are pretty expensive, but I went through two Lansinoh pumps that each broke for different reasons before I got this one, plus lost a few of those little pieces! This one is awesome!! I pump at work, so it's got to be convenient for me. It has a storage area with ice packs so it stays cold all day and I don't have to embarassingly store it in the breakroom fridge!! I plan on nursing til my son is a year old so I needed something that was effecient and would last. It's just awesome!! I can pump 12 ounces in 5 minutes!! I highly suggest it!
I have had two different pumps and the one I liked the best was the Avent Duo Electric pump. It was great and so quiet. Sometimes I could pump enough for two days of feedings during one day at work. I could use it and no one could hear it through the doors or walls. A good pump is so important when you are working away from home. Good luck and hang in there.
I am another Medela Pump in Style fan. I pumped for a little over a year after returning to work, several times a day, with no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended.
I can't say for the Lansinoh pump as I've never seen it. As for what breast pump to buy it depends on what your situation is. Do you just need something for occasional use (i.e. you're exclusively breast feeding but want to freeze some just in case or you want to pump to relieve some pressure) I loved the Avent manual pump. A lot of people complain that they don't have "let down" with a manual, but I never had a problem. If you need to stimulate more milk, or if you're going back to work, that sort of exclusively pumping most people recommend a hospital grade one that you can rent. I tried a medela pump in style and had good results though, that is a bit pricey if you're just needing a little extra something.
Hope this helps.
I liked my Medela breast pump (it has lasted for my 2 kids and my 2 nephews-4 total years of pumping), but to get an overview of the wide variety of pumps available I would seek the recommendation of the lacation consultant at the hospital. If you don't have one at your hospital, Lutheran in Ft. Wayne has 3 on staff. Also a Le Leche League should offer good advice.
I have 2 children, a 7 year old daughter, and a 2 year old son. I did not breastfeed my daughter, but I did breastfeed my son, and it went very well, I had a good quality breast pump, the "Medela Pump in Style" It was top of the line and expensive, but well worth the money. Have you purchased a breast pump yet? If you have not, I strongly recommend that one because I know from personal experience, when it comes to breastpumps, you get what you pay for. My mom had bought me a $50.00 brestpump from Wallmart, "The First Years" brand, and it was a piece of junk, when I used it, I only got a few drops of milk out, and it hurt my nipples the way it pulled on them. At first I thought there was something wrong with me, then I talked to the lactation cunsultant at the hospital, and she recommended the Medela Pump in Style, I went right out and bought it, it was over $300.00, but it worked great, all I had to do was press a button to let down and it always got a lot of milk out, and it was not painfull at all. You can get it a little cheaper if you order it online at breastpumps.com, I hope your breastfeeding experience is going well, and I hope this info will be usefull to you and other new mothers.
I LOVED my Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump! For the price point it was great! When it got to the point I had to switch out the bottles they offered to bigger ones, I just bought plastic Gerber bottles. But they didn't fit in the holders on the machine though. So my baby uses Playtex Bottles and they are standard size and I could attach them right up to the pump and pump into one of his bottles and they fit into the holders on the machine.
I have a Medela pump and LOVE it....it's just a single one and I can use any bottle with it. I just use the regular baby bottles with it and then put a cap on them and put them in the fridge. I'm sure the Lanisoh one is nice too - they seem to be a good brand. Maybe you can use regular baby bottles on those too? Not sure.
If you plan on having more children I would purchase a better more expensive breastpump. If you purchase formula for the year it will cost you a range of $1500-3000 depending on the formula. A nice pump will cost you $200-300. Medela pump in style is a good pump. Go to www.medela.com and look at all the different pumps they have. You can purchase them at Babies R' Us, Target, or Ebay. In the long run breastfeeding your infant for the first year will save you lots of money (less DR. visits, medicine, formula, less time off work, etc.). Hope this helps.
Hi K.,
My husband and I took a breastfeeding class, and a prenatal class. At both classes and the hospital where I delivered they all talked about Medela. It was around $280.00 and we also purchased the Medela bottles. It was all pricy but seemed to work out well. Everyone swore by Medela. I hope all works out for you.
I used the Medela breast pump while working full time and loved it!
Medela Pump In Style. It's worth its weight in gold, imho. :)
No doubt about it...use Medela. It's the only one that works.

Of course I dont know where you live but you may think of renting a pump. Mothers Helper in Avon Lake, Ohio has 2 types of hospital grade pumps,Baby's R Us also rents pumps? Pumps are expensive! If you don't have luck there, the hospital that you gave birth at will have sudgestions, ask to speak with a lactation consaltant. Good Luck A. B
P.S. I have lots of pump experiance:) Medela's my fave!
Congrats on your new baby!
I would look into BPA-free bottles no matter what pump you're using.
As far as the pump goes...It really depends on how often you'll be using it. If you're returning to work and pumping several times/day, I can guarantee you'll get many recommendations for a double-electric pump. No doubt, these are great for your supply and output. I just wanted to offer another option, which most pumping moms don't consider. (I wouldn't consider it after having my 1st daughter, either!) Now, after having my 2nd daughter, I have an Avent Isis, manual pump and LOVE it. I get better results from it than from any electric I've tried. I use it 3-4x's/day, Monday-Friday. Keep in mind, some women respond better to manuals and some better to electrics.
If you just need an occasional bottle of breast milk, you might also consider hand expression.
four kids three breast pumps later the best one I ever had was the AMEDA Pump It is a little more pricey however, it does allow for "back flow" of milk while pumping and has ZERo contamination. It is really easy to clean and it did not hurt a bit. I got mine in the cute back pack style and it looked like a purse in fact I used it as a traveling pump/purse. I wish I would have had it for my first twokids
Medela Medela Medela! I talked with a lactation consultant at the hospital when Ihad my son. She said you want to purchase a pump from a copmany that focuses on making pumps and not other items like bottles and other baby products. This way you know they are dedicating their time to selling the best pump on the market. I work full time and have pumped ever since he was born. I would suggest pumping now to store up milk if you are planning to return to work. Every drop counts even if you only get an ounce or so to start. Add an extra time to pump or pump after your baby eats to store up milk. I used the Medela Pump in style advanced. You can also RENT pumps from the hospital but they can be a bit more bulky and by the time you rent for a whole year if you plan to BF this long you could have paid for a pump to use for another child!
Good luck and enjoy this special bond with your child it is like no other!

Hi, my first baby is 5 months now. I bought the medela in style, it is an electrical double breast pump. I was back to full time work at 3 months and worked well for me. It has bottles, or you can find them at Baby'srus (it has lots of lansinoh products there too). But the best is probably to buy disposable, sterilized bags. I use both. I recommend checking online before buying at retail. the st v's womens' store charged me 100 more than I saw online later. good luck.
Medela Pump In Style is the best I've used. It does a great job and is adjustable in "suction". They are pricy but worth every penny. You'll still save money over formula costs.
I use the Playtex Embrace (electric, double pump, hospital grade)and I really like it. I don't use it a ton b/c I don't work outside the home. It's got all the features of other pumps but is less expensive. It fits both Playtex bottles and normal ones, although I only used the Playtex. I loved it!
I agree, the breastpump I use is Medela. Electric is the best no matter what! Also usually they will transition easy from breast to bottle as long as you start now! My new son is six months and won't go to a bottle ahhh! but it is ok because I just take him to where ever I go! Lansinoh also has a lot of great products- the purple tube is awesome to protect yourself from cracks & bleeding. C.
I'm on the Medela band wagon too! The only bummer is that our almost 5 month old daughter does NOT like the Medela nipple! She likes the Avent nipple. We are just careful with heating my breast milk and I try to only store my milk in Medela or the plastic Lansinoh bags.
Good luck!

I had a lot of success with the Medela PIS. It has worked for me through 2 babies (5 years now) and I could attached any normal size bottle, just not the Avent ones.
If you are going to be pumping often I think that it is beneficial to rent a double pump from the hospital. You can't buy the kind of pumps that they rent. My first daughter had troubles latching on so I had to pump for 4 months and I would have not been able to do it without the heavy duty double hospital pump. With my second daughter she had no problem nursing so I used a little Medela pump and it did the job for the small amount of pumping that I had to do. The hospital pump was also really quiet and got the job done much quicker.
These bottles are BPA free: http://www.newbornfree.com/
I like the Medela Swing pump, but you can only pump one at a time. Here's a good resource for choosing a pump: http://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/for-expectant-mother...
