If anyone has advice on which are the best training pants I'd love to hear. I determined to try and stay away from Pull-ups this time around. Thanks.

My favorite are Bright Bots. They are from Australia, I think, but you can find them online. I bought them from www.theecstore.com They are pricey, but the ones I bought for my son are still in like new condition for my daughter so I guess it depends on if you would reuse them or not. Bright bots have some kind of microfiber layer inside a terry cloth outside so they hold a lot of wetness. And they come in cute colors.

For me, the Gerber ones didn't hold wetness -- they just were not much better than regular underwear. I did like the JC Penney brand ones, but can't remember the name. Maybe it was Wee Ones?

Gerber from Target worked great for us! And my daughter still wears them at night (she's 4), "just in case".

I have never used training pants...I just put my DD in underwear and she was fine..used pullups overnight until she was dry (and we reused the pullup if she was dry in the morning..those things are expensive). I assume you're talking about the bulky underwear??? I didn't understand their purpose as they were so big and bulky and if they got wet it seemed like more to wash than regular underwear plus DD loved picking out her first set of underwear.

B., I've only potty trained DD so by no means am I an expert!

We did not use any training pant with either my son or daughter. Not sure what age and where you are with the training, but both of mine were trained without very easily before they were 2.5. For many kids, the pull-ups are confusing and don't encourage independence as easily, (just my opinion!)

I use generic wal-mart ones at night and real undies during the day. In my expirience, the training pants just get them used to the feeling of their pee! lol. I watched a little girl who wore the huggies ones and she would be soaked and not say anything (she was three). She would just pee a bunch at once.

I just used the gerber underpants with a little extra padding (training pants). Then I also covered them with the plastc underwear as well. That way if my son had an accident it didn't always get all over his clothes. He is still in pull ups for night sleeping though. I thought the gerber ones worked great and he is still able to wear the underwear so I didn't have to go out and buy all new ones again.

I would agree with Linda. I used Gerber training pants. I also got 6 cloth and 2 with a plastic cover. They worked well. If you google "gerber training pants" you will come up with a few different sites that sell them. I originally bought some at Target, but couldn't find them again when I went back.

Hi!
I used the Gerber training pants--just like thicker underwear and then put the plastic underwear over them. Once he was doing better I stopped using the plastic pants!

Good Luck!

Gerber makes a training underwear that are thicker underwear. I used those and it makes the transition to full out underwear SO much easier!

I love the Little Beetle Trainers because they are nice and absorbent for beginning training and have snaps on the side to 'unload.' They are organic cotton, though, so they aren't cheap. But oh so nice for early on in the process!!

I have a 2 1/2 year old girl and I also had a hard time finding training pants. By far the best training pants I found are from Hanna Anderssen. They're more expensive but well worth it. They are very soft and most importantly very thick and absorbant. My husband thought I was crazy when I bought them, but even he agreed after the fact that they were worth it. I also found some at JC Penny that weren't bad. Stay away from the Gerber brand from Target. They are very thin and don't do the job.

Hi Mama! The best kind of training pants are the cloth kind. They have some great ones that you can find online at hyenacart. I am going to make some for my daughter but I don't sell them because I use someone elses pattern

try cloth diapers! i lent my friend our size medium fuzzy bunz for her 18 mo. old who easily potty-trained thereafter... they can feel just enough wetness in the cloth diapers. and she called them something like big boy pants - so they were a "step up" from his baby diapers. your daughter would then still be motivated by the kind of undies with actual pictures on them as yet another step up from the cloth dipes. you can often buy used diapers on craigslist. may seem gross, but it's not at all! if you do end up doing this, get back in touch if you need help with cleaning them, etc. best of luck!
