Let me guess....you went to the Good Will in Wappingers? I had the same problem there once a while ago. It's fine if they can't take something but there's absolutely no reason they have to be rude about it! I brought furniture there once and the woman looked at me as if I were on drugs...She actually asked me "why would you think we would accept furniture?" (And it was in excellent shape!!)
I don't have too many suggestions other than maybe now that the weather is starting to get warmer have a yard sale! I'll be one of your customers!! Or take the blankets and clothes to one of those clothing drop boxes...their everywhere. There's a whole bunch at Stop-N-Shop in Pok, off Rte 44. Also you might be able to donate some of the stuff, depending on the age range of it to a pregnancy crisis center in the City of Pok. It's on Church St, and it's called CareNet. Let me know and I'll look for their number....I donated some stuff to them and boy were they appreciative!! Don't let the Good Will get you down...they just need to hire new staff....
One more thing....someone just told me about a website called Craigslist.com. Apparently you can advertise to sell all kinds of things at no cost. I haven't actually looked into but it might be worth a browse.
