YMCA - affordable, friendly, knowledgable instructors
We took our now 5 year old son to the Gwinnett Aquatic Center. Even though we live in Sandy Springs/Dunwoody area, it was worth the 20 minute drive. He attended for 2 weeks, Monday through Thursday, and is doing awesome. Coach "J" is the best. He's at the Peachtree Industrial location.
I've been thrilled with Swim Atlanta. We're at the one off Sugarloaf Pkwy. But they have other locations in the metro area.
Both of my children are in lessons at the YMCA on Clairemont road near Emory University in Decatur. They offer swim classes up through adult. The children's classes are 2x per week like Tues/Thur. (or Saturday's only) and are $45 for members and $90 for non-members. You can sign up online or go in. The only start up fees you'll need to pay are either to join the YMCA to become a member (which varies) or--which we did--is to pay $30 and that give you access to classes for the family for a year at the non-member prices. My children LOVE they classes and they are learning a lot.
The baby classes are parent assistedc couple common songs with swimming exercises. Like "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great"fall" and your toddler jumps in with you from a seated position. Or,
"The wheels on th ebus go round and round," and you turn baby around in the water. It's really quite fun.
The preschool classes ages 3-5 (not parent assisted) go through a series of levels pike, eel, ray and starfish. These classes look great but my experience is in the baby/toddler and youth classes, so I won't comment too much.
The older kids have a swim series they can go though starting from to polliwog, guppy, minnow, fish, flying fish and shark. They also have a stroke clinic. Some kids might have to do a class more than once. Thge teachers are knowledgeable and have a great system for teaching them.
Also the pool in indoor and heated and there is ALWAYS a lifeguard on duty.

Healthplace up at Kenneston e Hospital.
When I was in Atlanta, I used Aquamobile for private swim lessons and it was great. My toddler was super scared of the water and after a few private lessons she never wanted to leave the pool! Now, she's on a swim team and swimming is her favorite sport. Highly recommend Aquamobile! http://aquamobileswim.com/l/private-swimming-lessons-atla...
My daughter has had 2 series of lessons at the Decatur YMCA. Her first teacher was wonderful! Sasha is doing so well in the water. I was really impressed and Sasha loved her. If you are looking for her name email me and I will get it for you.
The Georgia Tech Campus Recreation Center (CRC) has a couple of beautiful pools and the youth swim lessons are available for non-CRC members too. Swim lessons are listed at the bottom of this website:
