Where to Find Donations for Raffle for PTA?

I'm trying to find donations for a fundraiser I'm chairing in January. It is a bit hard this time of year because it seems like a lot of groups are already "donated out" ...... they're tired of giving. Where can I find items for the raffle? It's a scholarship fundraiser by LISD (Lewisville), so I'd like to stay in the LISD area.

I don't really want to go door-to-door at restaurants for small raffle items. I'm tired too! And it's an awful time of year to drive around town.

Any ideas on where and how to look?

What can I do next?

Look to see who on a small business scale is advtertising. these are companies looking for business. I have been the most successful asking newer business in my neighborhood. I hit up dog sitters, vets, massage therapist, hair stylist, restaurants, house cleaning services. Business that have services are often times more likely to give because it is easier to give time than stock. Good luck in your quest!

Sometimes local Walmarts will help with these kinds of things. Check with a manager at your local Walmart and see if they'd be interested in helping out. I know they do have a certain amount of people/funds they can help with, but it couldn't hurt to check.

Are there businesses or business contacts within the PTA board that can use their connections or ask for you? Don't forget about services and these businesses might not get asked as much (lawn care, housecleaning, pool care, etc., painting, etc.) Plus you can "sell" it to these people to want to give because it will be good advertising for them.

Other things that go well at raffles are school related things.....movie party with you and three friends, pizza brought in to school for your class....you could make up anything.

You're right about groups being "donated out".

we wrote a general letter to all businesses on pta letterhead. Then I faxed them to all the businesses in the area. If they had something to donate they called or e mailed us. We all offered them advertisement as one of our sponsers. It worked really well.

Hi T.,

I have a home-based business and am always looking for ways to spread the word about my products. Go to www.kiddosdelight.com to see what I have to offer. I would love to donate a couple items.

Also, a side note. I sell Lovable Lables. http://www.kiddosdelight.lovablelabels.ca/
These are sticker labels, iron-on labels, bag tags, clothing dots and much more for labeling your childs belongings. I have a wonderful hassle-free fundraising opportunity. We could create a website for you, provide you with a letter for your parents telling them about the fundraiser. Parents would log on to the website and place their order. You WOULD NOT have to collect money or pass out product. At the end of the fundraiser I would bring you a 20% commission check. It takes 5 minutes to sign up for the fundraiser!

Let me know what you think!

P.
