i was not high risk but i think my doc does high risk. I'm very happy with him, as he delivered both my kids. Dr Peter Holden in Plainview.
I would like to find a high-risk OBGYN in Nassau County. I recently had a miscarriage and also had a LEEP procedure done a some time ago. Can someone please give me a recommendation? Also, do you need to have a referral before seeing this type of doctor or can you just call and make an appointment on your own? If anyone can provide insight on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated. ~C.
There are many obgyns in the Westbury, NY area that are specialize in high risk pregnancy, check out the article for more referrals.

Not sure if he specializes in high risk, but my doctor is Dr. Terrani / Dr. Geer in Garden City (near the Roosevelt Field Mall) and they are terrific! Plus they have really flexible hours and I think take a lot of different insurances. I think that for most insurance companies, you can choose your own OB as long as they accept the insurance.
VICTOR KLEIN!!!! (He is in Great Neck on Northern Blvd) He delivered me because I knew him from other sources even though I am not high risk - but I know that this is his specialty. He is always listed in all the publications about NY's Top Doctors, etc. His office recently delivered Jennifer Lopez's twins... He is very talented with lots of specialty training (and I am a malpractice lawyer, so I know them all - good and bad) Good luck!
The referral ? is about your insurance. You can get an appt with anyone. But call your insurance co. to see if you need to "specify" a primary gyno etc. Some require that. I have Oxford and had to do that. For high risk pregnancies, etc., I highly recommend:
Bernstein, Krim, Cooperman, Fried & Chung
Northern Obstertrics & Gynecology
3111 New Hyde Park Road
North Hills, NY 11040

They deliver at North Shore - Manhasset & deal with lots of women in your position and women who have to do the complex fertility route. Try and see Dr. Eileen Krim, Dr. W. Fried OR Dr. Brian Cooperman. They are all great there but I think these three will be best for your case.
Hope this helps!
Dr. Victor Klein and Dr. Nimaroff who are with North Shore Hospital.
I have been going there for 10 years and they are great.
You can google them for the info.- they just moved offices to 825 Northern Blvd.
good luck.
If there's a chance of premature delivery, you might want to consider someone who delivers at LIJ, since Schneider Children's Hospital, with its top-level NICU, is attached to LIJ -- you can get to your baby/babies without going outside the hospital (or even, in most cases, taking an elevator), so you can stay in your gown, get wheeled over in a chair, etc., if need be. North Shore uses the same NICU, but it's about a 10-minute drive away. I delivered my twins (automatically a high-risk pregnancy) there and was very happy with the hospital. Also, my doctor was great: Heather Appelbaum, with the Ann and Jules Gottlieb Women's Comprehensive Health Center in Manhasset on Northern Blvd., which is part of the North Shore/LIJ system.
Good luck!
