I donate all mine to the local domestic violence safe house and the woman and family homeless shelter.
I am looking for the best places to donate our used childrens/infant toys and clothes that we have outgrown. I would love to see them go to people who can really use them.
I donate all mine to the local domestic violence safe house and the woman and family homeless shelter.
I always donate my children's old clothes and toys to our local domestic violence shelter. There are so many women and children who have to leave life threatening situations with practically just the clothes on their backs and have to re-establish new lives, I figure these families can really, really use what we have to offer.
You might check if there is a Pregnancy Resource Center in your area. They provide clothes, toys, diapers etc., classes, and counseling to young mothers who have decided to keep their babies and not abort. They also offer post-abortion counseling for girls who are having a hard time coping with their decision to abort. That is where I take my items. The moms and dad can earn Mommy Money or Daddy Bucks to buy items from the store. They earn the fake $ by taking classes about how to care for your child. It's a great program and most of the girls have no job, are still in high school etc., and come from poor families. They really need the help!
I donate to our local women's shelter. The clothes are appreciated and put to good use. Many of the moms leave their abusive situation only with their children and the clothes on their backs.
We've donated a lot of things to them.... older washer/dryer, computers, furniture, etc. It goes to a good cause.
You could contact a state supported daycare/preschool. They are always in need of toys and "emergency clothing". They will also know which families may be in need as well.
Look into Head Start programs and daycares that are subsidized.
daycares are good, Salvation Army is great because they donate to needy families. Goodwill is good too because they sell it at lower prices, but they still Sell it. Thats why I prefer Salvation army because it does go to needy people that dont have the extra money to spend. Look up other churches or charities in your area too.
Womans shelters call the local YWCA
Red Cross,Homeless shelters
Do you know any families with kids a little younger than your? You could ask at church about families in need.
Not sure what you mean by the "best" place but Salvation Army, etc. is always a convenient option.
I also like the idea about donating to a women's shelter or homeless shelter.
I take my stuff to the Relief Nursery - it's a great organization.
A domestic violence woman's shelter or Goodwill.
