JcPenny has nice, thick, but cheap drapes you can order online.
I've mostly sewed my own, but now I'm way to busy for that. I'm very familiar with custom drapery (was an interior designer before I became a SAHM) but cannot afford it right now. so I'm looking for ready made drapes that look expensive. I've looked at restoration hardware and Great Indoors. Both have the high quality I'm hoping for, just not fining what I'm looking for. Any other thoughts?
Thanks everyone. I'm not on a massive budget, going for middle of the road, and something I can take with me when I leave this house. I have also been a fan of Ikea drapes, but this time around since I'm not on a massive budget wanted something lined, even inner and outer lined for really heavy looking drapes. I'm stuck with on line shopping with two babies, but man, you reallly need to see fabric to know if you really like it. This is a tough one.

JCPenney, and believe it or not, Lowes home improvement stores have really upped the quality of their house decor and has some gorgeous high quality window dressings - thei fat decroative poles are gorgeous, and MUCh cheaper than every where else I looked.
Home Depot has the new Martha Stewart line. Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Calico Corners
I've had luck at Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond. I used Target for my dining room & daughter's room. The dining room ones are really exotic looking too. I got my living room ones (drapes & valance) from BB&B...I've gotten many positive comments on all of the drapes. Good luck!
JC Penney, Domestications, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel...
I have to laugh about Restoration Hardware. I love their stuff, but WOW are they expensive! I found some interesting things at IKEA last weekend. Since you are a designer, I think you could take some of the basics that they have and dress them up. I bought some white drapes, hemmed them to the exact length I wanted, and then bought a wide grosgrain ribbon that coordinated with my bedding, and attached it with some seam binding a few inches from the bottom (because I'm too lazy to sew, LOL) - anyway the effect was custom but I think I spent less than $60 on the entire project including the curtain rod (which I bought at IKEA for $7 - love that place). They also had some flat panels that you would hang from a track - I absolutely fell in love with those but I have to budget for them (I mean, even so they would be less than $100 for the big window I need to cover, so it's not exactly a huge fortune as far as window treatments go). Anyhow, I'm inspired by IKEA at the moment. =)
