There are several Montessori schools in the area, though I don't recall the names. You could search online or in the phone book, though.
I just moved from Chicago to Vestavia Hills. I am looking for a montessori school or any other good private/public schools for them, where they can spend 4-5 hours of fun & learning with other children. Where should I start my search? I am also looking for other moms with toddler children, so we can share experiences and possibly arrange playdates.
Thanks for all your help. I was finally able to find back-up help so I could get out of the house (without the boys) to tour four private schools in the area ... Hilltop Montessori (my kids will go there for summer camp and next academic session), Creative Montessori (I did not like it), Bruno's Montessori (I like it, but they did not have slots available), Highlands (I liked it but they do not take kids before 4 years of age). Thanks again Mamas .. you rock!

Hi,
I live close to Vestavia - although not in the city limits. My children go to Mt. Chapel Preschool and MDO. Probably 99% of the students are in Vestavia and I am having to make some difficult choices about separating my first to go to "real school" next year from her peers. We love the program and it is one of the best around. You will find in Vestavia that Mt. Chapel is highly rated - but registration just happened and spots are limited. Call them at ###-###-####, Stacy Bouchillon is the director and a good friend - come take a look around and see for yourself.
There are some good montessori schools in town - I am not too familiar, but some others may be. There are many good schools in your area and your public school system is far and above average. You will do fine and will find many new friends.
I have 3 kids. A girl 5, and two boys 4 & 2. I have lived in this area my whole life and would love to meet you and show you around and introduce you to other moms. Further, if you like a mom's club - I am a psuedo-memeber of a great one. I don't seem to find the time to be a full fledged member - but I can get you in touch. We play Bunco together once a month and I make a lot of those nights.
At any rate - get in touch if you want to know more.

I don't know about schools as mine are older and in public schools. However, I did see a MOPS group sign on Valleydale road at the Vineyard Church across from Spain Park. I went to a group like this where we lived when my kids were little and it meant a lot. I made some contacts and we could get together outside of the group for park play days and such.

There is a Montessori school in Homewood called Creative Montessori that has a really good reputation. Although it's not in Vestavia, it wouldn't be too far of a drive for you. As far as finding playdates, you might consider looking into the Over the Mountain MOMS Club. If your interested in getting more info you can email ____@____.com luck!!
I am sure you haven't gotten some great advice. I live in Homewood and there are two true montessori schools...creative montessori and early arts learning center. My 2 year old goes to All Saints Episcopal it is not designated as a montessori but the director and many of the teachers follow the montessori concepts. They have summer registration starting March 10th. Hope that helps. Also there is mommy and me free play at the library Emmet Oneal in crestline village on Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30. It is great!
