I would like to know where you shop your organics :)

Edit: Does anyone know if Door To Door Organics delivers to Fort Carson?

What can I do next?

I highly suggest Grant Farms CSA. It is not too late to sign up to get a share of wonderful, local organic veggies delivered every week. You can find them on the web. The quality and volume of veggies is really amazing, much less than buying the same organic produce at Whole Foods, Sunflower, or Sprouts. They also have organic meats. Cheers.

Do you have a Sunflower Market near you? I am not as familiar with their meat, but they have fabulous prices on their produce! Not everything is organic, but they have a lot, and they have such deals. I buy the majority of my produce there.

I like vitamin Cottage best...they are by far the best priced. We do Door to Door organics, but I don't know if they deliver to you--it is a great service! Try their website...www.doortodoororganics.com

Hi Angie!

I don't usually go to one store to get my organic produce- although if I had to pick one, it would be Vitamin Cottage. WholeFoods is ridiculously expensive and they sell a mix of conventional and organic, lately it's been more conventional than organic, and ethically, I would rather support a company that is committed to offering the best foods to their customers.

It is the cheapest, and usually best quality to find a source where you can get your meat in bulk, like buying half a cow or 10 or so chickens. Otherwise, (and unfortunately-see above feelings) Wholefoods has the best price and quality on Organic ground beef. We have tried several from Vitamin Cottage, but the quality is never as good as the beef from WF's.

King Soopers and Safeway have decent offerings of organic produce, too.

I must say, I am pretty spoiled right now with my garden in full swing- I don't have to buy much produce right now. I do go to the Farmers Market every Saturday, here in Longmont, to get mostly fruit- peaches, apples, canteloupe, watermelon.

As for Door to Door, my experience was just okay with them. It is a great service, but I felt, for the money, that I would rather get produce that I picked. I would always end up with some stuff that wasn't the best quality, and at a premium price, I just thought we could be a little wiser with our money. They were good in offering credits to our account for the produce that wasn't so great, but I got tired of calling every week to report what shouldn't have made it into the box in the first place. (For instance, the entire apple order had mold on the bottoms and incredibly bruised and browned oranges.) It is worth the try though, especially if it is not feasible for you to go to several stores to get the produce that you need. Perhaps it is just that I had really high expectations...

Boy, didn't mean to write so much! We are committed to eating organic food, and though it may take more effort (and self control when the conventional strawberries are 1/5 the cost!), I believe that it is so worth it! If you have other questions, please don't hesitae to let me know!

Something else- you could organize or be part of a co-op and get organic produce direct from the distributor, now there is where you can really get incredible prices!

We are very blessed. We have our own organic cows, chickens & eggs. I have a 90% organic garden & what I do not have I usually buy from Walmart. I have the hardest time finding organic tomatoes (since mine are not doing very well from this crazy weather). When I do find them they are $4.99 for 2 OUCH! I sometimes for very special/unique organic itmes shop WHole foods, But it's a rarity. :0)

For Door to Door Organics, check http://www.doortodoororganics.com/ to find their delivery areas.

I buy my organic meat at Costco, mostly, but sometimes also at Whole Foods or King Soopers. Produce is a combination of King Soopers and Whole Foods. Once in a great while, also at Vitamin Cottage.

I am able to go to the Western Slope now and then so I also get produce at some of the organic fruit stands there.

We use Door to Door and LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I could not be happier with them. Their produce and service are excellent and the prices are very reasonable. I'm not sure where Fort Carson is, but they deliver all over...here's the page for delivery:

I don't see Fort Carson, but that doesn't mean they don't deliver there...just give them a call.
