Hi everyone!!

Could anyone suggest any websites for good bean and/or lentil recipes? I have tried a few and we haven't liked them at all. All I can find are recipes using lentils as they are cooked in India, and we do NOT like the spices that are used in Indian recipes. Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Not a website, but I learned so much from the Moosewood Cookbook. The lentil soup in there is divine, and there are so many suggestions of different ways to cook beans and other vegetarian foods. If you can get a hold of a copy or find the recipes from it online, I think you will be pleasantly surprised :)

Cumin is also used a lot in Mexican cooking, so you will get that flavor profile using it alone or with cilantro (leaves) or coriander (seeds, root). Vinegar should always be added last, not during the cooking process. And it's only a condiment, like adding ketchup to burgers. Don't put it in there if you don't like it! Beans are neutral in flavor, neither savory nor sweet, you can take them in either direction. Not adding salt to beans during the cooking process is a general rule, but lentils are an exception.

I kind of figured this out on my own. Well, cook the lentils or other beans of course in water as should be.Add some chicken bouillon. And some people add ham or pork or whatever. I decided to add dry vegetable soup mix, garlic salt and pepper and whatever and yum. And if you like ham or pork in addition to it even yummier. Or some onions or some garlic. I don't know the spices that you found on line, but well, I was very happy with these.

Go to www.cocinaycomparte.com and you will find a variety of bean and lentil recipes (soups, stews, casseroles, etc). Very yummy and healthy. This lady also has a YouTube channel which is cocinaalnatural. The videos are in Spanish so not too sure if you speak or understand the language. I'd be happy to help you translate whatever recipe you like just pm me.

Here's my lentil soup recipe (slightly modified from the South Beach Diet cookbook)--it does include curry, but only a little. I love it, and anyone who tries it also loves it.

1 tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil
2 small carrots, thinly sliced
2 large stalks of celery, thinly sliced
1 large onion, sliced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp cumin
1 tsp curry
3/4 tsp salt
2 cups of red lentils, rinsed
8 cups of chicken broth or water

Heat extra virgin olive oil over medium in large pot. Add carrots, celery, onion & garlic & spices and cook (covered) for 15 min, or until softened. Raise heat to high and add rinsed and drained lentils and broth (or water) and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook partially covered for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and puree soup in food processor (optional). Serve.
Can add juice from 1/2 a lemon (optional)
Garnish with paprika (optional)

My friends do tacos out of them instead of beef it was good, also a chili. I do not have recipe for it though sorry.
I was thinking to try taco mix and follow that and just pretend the lentills are beef.
We ate the tacos over chips it was tasty I will be looking at this as I want to know more too.
I did find this though...
