i'm wondering if anyone has found any "bargain" diapers that actually hold up. i recently bought target brand diapers and i highly recommend you DO NOT buy those. just curious if there are any store brands, generic brands, etc. that save a few bucks, but are just as good as huggies. thanks!!!

What can I do next?

Well since you like Huggies, have you tried buying them at Costco? I have calculated and it is definitely cheaper buying at Costco than buying them at Wal-Mart or Target. Also Costco has Kirkland brand which I haven't tried yet (they don't have stage 3...which I use for my son) but I will once he's grown to stage 4. They are cheaper than Huggies by approximately $4.00 per box. It's only $4 but it adds up.

I like Wal-Mart brand diapers, never had any problems with them. I agree the Target ones are terrible and Costco's Kirkland are good as well.

If you have been happy with brand name diapers, why quit? You can always find coupons in the Sunday paper, grocery stores (with your reciept), in Pamper's packaging, and by registering with the websites. Whenever I go to the grocery store, drug store, or Target to do my shopping I see what's on sale (Huggies or Pampers) & see if I have a corresponding coupon (I keep them in my purse). On sale I'll find the diapers for about $9.99 & I normally have a coupon for $2-3 off. It makes it the same price as the generic/bargain diapers.

CVS brand diapers work, sometimes buy one get one 1/2 off. I would not recommend the Playskool Rompers that CVS sells, they fall apart easily. Costco brand diapers also work, but must buy the bulk, for one child a box at $38 will last you close to a month. If you havn't done so already sign up online with Pampers.com and Huggies to receive coupons over the mail. I have a 1 year old and 2.4yr old still in diapers, so I've tried a few different brands.

I am currently using Luvs which is not totally a discount diaper. I have used Parents Choice and White Cloud both of which are pretty good for the money. The key is to make sure that the diaper is not too small. If you have a leakage problem then go to the next bigger size. You can also use the cheap ones during the day and save the good ones or the next bigger size of cheaper ones for night. The Costco brand I think is terrible because they seep out of the seat of the diaper so your lap is urine-soaked before you notice sometimes. I also dislike Huggies. Not worth the extra money to me. I've tried them all and they all have positives and negatives to them. The green diaper they sell at Target, I've heard, is pretty good. They just cost a bit more.

Luvs are made by Pampers and the Costco brand is made by either Pampers or Huggies (I can't remember which) so they are both pretty good bets. I ended up using Pampers Cruisers because they worked better for my daughter and I figured a bargain isn't a bargain if they are leaky or don't hold up! I looked for coupons on line or in the paper. Also, sometimes ordering your diapers from Amazon.com or drugstore.com and having them delivered is actually cheaper than buying them at the store!

I went with white cloud for my son. He drinks alot so we had problems finding diapers that would hold up as well. But white cloud served us well all the way through potty training.

If you like Huggies, the cheapest place to buy them is Costco. Watch for coupons and stock up while you can - we get the coupon from my Mom and Dad and our neighbors so we can take advantage of the savings. The Kirkland Signature diapers are made by Kimberly-Clark - the same company that makes Huggies. They are similar to the premium Huggies, but in my opinion they run a little smaller than the Huggies. If you are a Costco member, you can call a number on the diaper box and request a sample to try before you buy. Also, the box of Kirkland diapers is cheaper than the Huggies, but the cost per diaper is more in the larger sizes, so you want to make sure that you are buying what you like and also factor in that the cost per diaper is really what matters.

We've tried a bunch of the alternative diapers and have found that they really aren't a better value when you are having to change diapers and clothes more frequently because of leaks and diapers that just don't hold that much.

Good luck!

Kirkland diapers at Costco. I use the Target ones, they are very cheap and aren't too sturdy, I just don't have a costco membership so that's why I don't get those.

I swear by Costco diapers. I've never had any problems with them and I'm convinced they are far superior to huggies. We always had leaks with huggies and I've never had that problem with the Costco brand.

I use the costco Kirkland ones too. They're very similar to huggies, but I think they're even better.

L. D,

I have had the best luck with the Costco Diapers. They are called Kirkland and they are similar to Huggies Sumpreme. They have elastic at the waistband and on the tabs. I love them. We've used them on 2 kids. I have tried the other store brands and found out that they are all exactly the same generic diaper. (Walmart, Target, CVS, Albertsons, Babies R Us, Smiths). They all seem to be made by the same company and they just aren't good quality. The Costco ones are a little more expensive than the Target, but not as pricey as huggies or pampers.

Good luck
L.

I have found that the easiest and cheapest places to buy brand name diapers is Amazon. I get pampers and it cost me $38 with shipping, I order once a month and they ship right to my house!
