You can start now. Once washed you just put them away and they're ready to be worn once the baby gets here. They'll stay clean in a drawer or the closet.
When should I wash baby stuff like clothes, bottles, pacifiers, etc? I am due Dec 10. It is the day after my son's bday. We will be pretty busy around this time. We have a niece's bday, MIL bday, Thanksgiving, my son's bday along with Christmas this time of year. Is it too s.oon to start now?
Thanks ladies. I have left all tags on the girl stuff that I have gotten. My friend just had a baby girl 3m ago and she has been giving me ALL of her stuff. It all looks brand new. That has been a blessing so I don't have a lot of "new" things with tags.

I started about a month before my due date so they would still be relatively fresh smelling.
Just be sure you are indeed having the right baby gender before cutting tags off of clothes - ie: If you've been told it's a girl, I'd wait to wash all those pretty pink things until she arrives. Just in case she's a boy instead.
Ditto to JessinTexas. After about 3 miss reading in our family alone, I don't 100% trust the sonograms when it comes to the gender. But really you can wash them whenever you want. There isn't a hard fast rule that you have to it when you start nesting or whenever.
I started about a month or so, away from my due date, just because I cant resist that fresh Downey smell.
But there isnt anything wrong with wanting to do it now and get everything put away. You can start whenever you like.
Congrats on the baby!
Of course not! It's just less you'll have to do later! With all of the stuff going on at that time of year, I think you're smart to be thinking about it now....Smart Mama!
.
I agree to start now if it makes you feel better! As long as you're going to keep them in the dresser or something and not stored in a tub any longer then I think it's fine! I always wash my kids seasonal clothes before I stack them in the closet and I don't usually rewash them again (that is if they can actually fit in them in another season!) before I put them on them again.
Just take your time, do a little here & a little there, the 1st of Oct would be great to begin, you can always ziploc the pacifiers, etc. for a 'no germs' safenet. Just my 2cents worth ;)...congrats!
You can go ahead and wash the gender neutral stuff like mattress cover, sheets, burp clothes, etc. Have about 5 outfits washed so that baby will have something to come home in, but the rest of it truely can be done later or by a family member while you are in the hospital.
I have a coworker that literally did not by one thing until the baby was born and deemed healthy. His wife had made registry lists but not purchased anything. On a Tues. when the dr. told them that they would go home the next day, they handed the ladies in his family the lists, a credit card and said, we'll need the carseat first.
Don't go crazy with stuff other than clothes. Just because you picked it out doesn't mean that baby will like that brand of bottle or binky. We had fifteen playtex drop in bottles that we had multiple boxes of liners for and my daughter would not for any reason latch on to any of the nipples they came with. I ended up having to go the Dr. Brown route. I did wash the bedding very early but I had to for medical reasons. I just bought a cheap queen size white sheet and covered the whole crib.
