Are you breastfeeding? Many breastfed babies don't need burping, their latch is pretty much airtight. For a bottlefed baby, I'd say no more burping when they can sit up on their own. However, keep in mind that you don't need to burp the baby as often as they get older - for a bottlefed newborn you might burp every ounce but a 3 month old could go a few ounces without burping.
