Hi J.-

At 6 months you can definitely start flying with your little one. I believe they advise you to wait awhile when they are first born, but after that it's fine. I've traveled by plane with my 9 month old three times now. She handles it great (surprisingly). The first time I flew with her, she was 6 months old.

Good luck!

The earlier the better. Tiny babies are easy--toddlers are a nightmare! Anytime after 15 months and they want to crawl/walk all over the plane and it is very challenging. At least the little ones stay put!

My husband and I flew w/ our baby when she was 10 weeks old. It was a dream! She slept the whole 4 1/2 hour flight. I think the airplane is like a car where the white noise and motion helps lull them to sleep. With that said, I hear that it is easier to fly with them when they are newborns as opposed to months older. Hope that helps.

We flew with all three of our children at ages as early as this. They key to a happy baby is to make sure that they are sucking during take off and landing. A bottle works very well.
Bon Voyage!

Hi - my baby is also 6 months old and we just took him on his first plane ride to Florida.

We didn't buy a separate seat for him - he rode on our laps. Wasn't as bad as we thought. We brought plenty of toys to distract him - he screamed for a minute or so when his ears popped, but otherwise he was fascinated at all the strangers and was a good sport.

One thing to keep in mind - other people on the plane and airport would comment how cute my baby was and try to touch him. Yuck! God knows what germs they have. Don't feel bad about telling others, "please don't touch my baby."

good luck!

I took a flight while he was 3 months old it was a 12 hour fligth. A little bit suggestions, if it iss an international flight do not sir in front where they give you baby crib instead sit in the middle where you can lie him or her. The front seats are next to the WC and terrible smell and all people try to play while it is nap time.
