When should I switch from formula to milk?

I agree - one year. Then switch to whole milk. Works best if you transition by starting w/ 75% formula and 25% milk then more and more milk.
You can switch as soon as your child turns 12 months-- that's at least what my pediatrician told me.
You can at age 12 months. What I did is switch to the Enfamil stage 2 for babies 10-24 months when my son turned 11 months. He just turned a year old and is on whole milk now. I give him the sippy cup with milk and for a while will supliment the formula at night in one bottle.
12 months...and you may be able to "just do it" if your child is willing. We didn't have to do any transition other than once we were out of formula, that was it! The next drink was milk in a sippy. He was thirsty. He drank it.
Formula/Breastmilk until age 1. Then whole milk until age 2.
After 12 months, you can safely switch to regular milk. Your baby does need fat from the milk so your ped may suggest you stay with whole milk until age 2.
After a year. We switched my daughter right after she turned 1. It took her a while to like it. We started with Whole milk until she was 2 and now she drinks 2 percent or 1 percent.
a study was done on the digestive systems of infants - it was found that the mechanism to digest the milk proteins didn't form until between 11 month 3 weeks old and 12 months 1 week old, literally in that exact time in all the babies. It is for this reason that you wait till they turn 1 to give them milk.
The switch should happen right around a year, but you don't go straight from formula to milk. Our pediatrician had us introduce our daughter to yogurt and cheese as part of her solid foods prior to the switch to make sure that her tummy could handle regular cow's milk. If I remember right, it was yogurt first (right around nine months) mixed with her fruits, then cheese.
From 12 months old they can have milk. It has to be "whole" milk... because the "milk fats" in it is an essential nutrient for brain development and growth. Go with organic milk.. with no hormones in it.
Some babies will just switch to milk with no problem. My daughter was like that... and I breastfed her.
My son, I had to transition him.... doing part breastmilk with part whole milk. Gradually increasing the proportion of whole milk, as he got used to it.
Each baby being different.
I breastfeed my children for about 12 months and switched to milk. However, I noticed that my sons were spitting out the milk at 12 months so I switched to Sililac 2 until they were about 17 months. When I switched to milk again, both children were fine after that. I guess it depends on the child if their stomachs are able to handle it. Experiment until there's no spit ups.
12 months is recommended, however, some babies may be ready before then. My son was done with formula at 10 1/2 mos. He just refused it from then on, so we started giving him milk.
Typically 11-12 months you can start to transition them; however, you doctor will give you the best guidance for your child specifically.
I was told w/ my son to mix the bottles (half formula and half milk) but then I had to waste the whole thing. He would take a bottle of either but not mixed so I alternated until I was sure he would drink the milk. I never tried to mix with my daughter, she took to the milk right away.
Most peds say to wait until one year. I did it gradually by mixing cows milk with formula. The first 2 weeks I did 2 oz milk mixed with 4 oz formula. Then I would put in more milk as the weeks went on until there was no more formula and just milk.
Mine will be 12 months next week and I switched him a couple weeks ago, he did great!
