Just curious...I gave birth 12 months ago and still no sign of period (though I could swear I'm having pre-menstrual symptoms!). I'm definitely not complaining since I always had heavy periods, accompanied by migraines. I nurse my baby about 3 times a day, and during the night, so I assume that's why I haven't gotten it back yet. We'll be trying for baby number 2 very soon, and I assume it's going to be harder since I have no idea when I'm ovulating.
I breastfed also, and the week I completely stopped breastfeeding, I got mine back. It was weird buying tampons again after 2 years. If you plan on quitting breastfeeding soon I bet it will return.
mine resumed at 6 weeks ..... I would make an appointment with your OB. He\She can do a blood test to check to see if you are ovulating and go from there ! Good Luck
You could be ovulating but its not likely. When you get your period depends on if you BF and also on the individual woman. It wasn't until I was down to just BFing my son just before sleeping did my period return. This was when he was a few months shy of 2 years. I spotted a couple months then got my period. You can try for another but it will be harder to get pregnant if you are still nursing.
Just last week, I got my period back after 3.5 years. Yep. You heard me. I hadn't had a period since March of 2007.
My baby is 11 months old, and I have a 2.5 year old.
So, yes. You can be ovulating even if you haven't had a period. :)
I got pregnant with baby number 2 when my first baby was about 11 months old, I think, and I nursed my first baby until she was 14 months.
My period resumed 10 months after my first, 16 months after my second, and most recently at 19 months after my third. I, too, experienced PMS like symptoms and would not have a period. I had about 4 months of this before my period arrived this last time.

My baby just turned 11 months and on the day she turned 11 months I got my period. My sister, on the other hand, who had a baby three weeks after I did, had her period much sooner, like at five months.
We both are breastfeeding our babies. If I hadn't received my period I would have gone to see my OBGYN this month.
I got mine about 2 months after birth with all three of my kids but I have read and heard that when you breastfeed it can be a year or more, I breastfed but was not one of the lucky ones :)
