My son is 7.5 months and this week he had two nights where he didn't wake up for a baba only his paci.. I usually give a 3 try rule to see if it's his baba or paci that he wants, he'll keep spitting the paci right out if it's his baba. I

My first son slept through the night from 3.5 months. My second just started consistently sleeping through the night at about 5 months. Neither took to a paci, and I never really pushed it either.

My 3 kids were between 10 & 12 weeks when they stopped waking in the middle of the night , they did however still have a feed around 10.30pm and went through from there until around 5 or 6am.

Well...my boy/girl twins are 19 months and my son still wakes up once and at times twice for a baba. The Ped says to stop it cold turkey and my mom says he'll grow out of it. I do brush his teeth right before I put him to bed at when they wake up. If I let him cry...forget it! I'll give him a baba but most of the time he never drinks it all anyways. As long as I get sleep and he does too. I do what I feel is best for my babies and you should too. By the way, I also have a 21 yo daughter and a 17 yo son and they never got bad teeth nor cavities, I'm happy to say. I just made sure their teeth got brushed throught out the day.

My kiddo was still waking once a night for something to eat well into 4 years old... but he was also sleeping 12 hour nights from a couple of weeks old. As a nursing baby it was 3:3:6... when he got older it was 6:6.

It really depends on how much they eat at their last feed and how big they are. My boys were BIG and started sleeping "all night" (five hour stretch) at about 4 months.

My older one stopped at 6 weeks, the younger one at almost 9 mo. Every baby is different.

Our pedi said that there's no physical reason for middle of the night feedings at about 4 months old.

My older daughter didn't sleep through the night for a year - but then I had received really bad parenting advice for her (as in, feed her every single time she cries - I mean really, people who say things like this to new parents ought to be shot). With baby #2 we did Babywise and she stopped waking at night at 5 weeks. (Heavens opened up, angels sang...)

I general I think babies over 6 months probably don't NEED to eat at night. It's more that they're used to eating at night. You could try watering down his bottle until it becomes all water - at that point he'll probably stop wanting it and/or even waking up for it.

I nursed my third child every two hours night and day for two years. Every kid needs something different. Just go with what your child needs. It is all over fast in the big scheme of things. She is now 20 and very smart and confident. I do not have any regrets.

My doctor told me when I had my first that babies do not need to eat at night after the first 2 weeks of life, that they do it because we train them too by using food to put them back to sleep rather than teaching them good sleeping habits. Following that advice both of my boys have been sleeping through the night since 1 month old (from 8pm until around 5 am), even when I was breast feeding only. Your child is older, so it will take some time for him to learn to comfort at night with out food, but you can help him.

My little girl started sleeping thru' the night at 4 months. Don't worry ~ if they're hungry they will let you know. Enjoy your full nights of sleep b/c your days are going to get busier and busier when your little guy starts napping less and less!

4.5 months was when mine stopped. Our doctor told us that by then they have no nutritional needs in the middle of night, it is purely for comfort.
