Congrats E.!
I found out that I was having twins around 10 weeks. My doctor had an idea that I may be having twins but wanted to wait until an ultrasound could confirm this. He could hear another faint heartbeat but said that it could have been mine since it was so faint, then he asked if I could be further along than what I had originally thought because I had a rather large pooch by this time. "Oh, well uh, you may be having twins but we have to wait until an ultrasound is done to find out for sure." My heart quit at that moment!
My first ultrasound introduced me to one of my boys, the other could not be confirmed because he was hiding behind his brother. With the next ultrasound I finally got to see that there were TWO. The techinician asked me if there was twins in my family and I about jumped off the table I was so excited. All I could say was, "Really?". I drove home with a smile on my face that no one could chisle off. I had always wanted twins but was under the impression that it wasn't my generation to have them. Guess what?! That skipping a generation thing doesn't always happen.
Because I am a very small framed person, they expected the twins to be rather small, just about 4 and a half pounds each. When they were born (c-section) they weighed a nice healthy 5 lbs 11 ounces and 6 lbs 7 ounces. Today, they are very energetic, wonderful 4 year old young men that really keep mom on her toes.
Good luck E., and again, Congratulations!
