My family was invited to dinner for my husbands best friends birthday. Great! Except the reservations are at 7pm... I know the kids get crazy right before bedtime and we won't make it until 8. So I was thinking of getting a sitter... but the baby has a cough. Do I get a sitter? Drag the kids along? Stay home? I was really, really excited about going out but I'm about to call it quits because I'm having a hard time finding a sitter :(
Thanks so much ladies... I'm going with majority here and still trying to find a sitter. I don't think I'll go if I can't find one; I'll let my husband go solo. I know how much the baby probably needs his rest. BUT... fingers still crossed for a sitter!

Sitter! Don't drag the kids. You will ruin your own good time and possibly the other adults there too. A sitter should be able to handle a cough as long as the baby isn't truly sick.
Either try to find a sitter or stay home with the kids. Dragging them would be miserable for you and everyone around you. I tried taking my kids to a long brunch during what's supposed to be the toddler's naptime and it was disaster. I felt I totally ruined my sister-in-law's birthday. The joys of parenthood!
If the baby isnt completely miserable and is sleeping fine, and not too cranky then I would get a sitter if possible. Go out, get a break and have a little fun!
I think for a cough, it's fine to get a sitter if you can get one. Just make sure she knows the baby has a cough. As minor as it is some people still like to know that in advance.
Sitter. You deserve a break today...wait, dinners not at McDonalds, is it?
get a sitter, leave the kids ready for bed, walk out that door and dont look back.
until right after dessert. (o:
Work really hard to find a sitter and Then relax on the Adult Dinner out :-)
As long as there is no fever I wouldnt have a problem leaving them for a few hours ~ and the sitter can always call your cell phone, I Hope thats not the case tho !!!!
I'd get a sitter if possible. If the baby doesn't feel good, it's not ideal to take him/her out and about. Or you can drag them along and stay 10 or 15 minutes. I'd hope that the important part is that you were able to stop in and say happy birthday.
...maybe the cough will keep him/her calm a bit and you can take baby along? the medicine will make her sleepy too. Try, at the very worst, you go home with baby.
I'd look for a sitter and drag the kids along if not - but my kids know not to piss me off at restaurants or it will be AGES before they go out again!
Try to find a sitter.
get a sitter, you deserve to have a night out alone with your hubby, especially since you are excited about going!! I'm sure the sitter can
take good care of a coughing baby. Just call her occasionally to check
up if you are that worried. Have fun!!
