M.M.
We're in the market for a new T.V. too!
Thanks for asking this question! I'm getting a lot of great ideas =-)
Our 15 y/o old T.V. met its demise about a week ago. I am going to start looking for a new one but wanted to know what kind of T.V. you all have. We don’t have much knowledge on what is new out there as the only 2 we have in the house are this one, and another in the master bedrm, and that. T.V. is about 20 yrs old (o.k. don’t laugh!)! Hey if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it right? LOL!
Before I start researching, thought I would get ideas here.
Do you a flat screen? What size? Who is the maker? Are you happy with it?
There is no budget by the way, but also don’t want to go overboard as we don’t use it much except to watch cooking/travel, sports, news..... All of our family, friends and neighbors have T.V.(s) that are HUGE! LOL
Just curious too…how many t.v. do you have in your home? Most ppl we know have about 4-6. We only have 1 right now.
Do your kids have a t.v. in their room(s)? How typical is that?
Added: Are Costco and Amazon best places to buy? If not there, where did you get yours?
AWESOME!! Thank you ALL so much for your advice and input! We are going to start "looking" this weekend but we're not in a hurry to buy. Man, T.V. sets are expensive!!
Seems that the majority of you suggested going to Costco, which will be our first trip this weekend, and maybe best buy. Sony Bravia, Vizio and Panasonic have gotten the most votes.
Honestly, if it were up to me we wouldn’t be getting one, but WOW! I haven’t seen my husband this excited about a large purchase for our home in a looooooooong TIME!!! LOL
My husband only sees the T.V. from the outside. I’m the one who always does all the research before making a large purchase.
SO Thanks again for giving me a great head start in my T.V. buying adventure! =-)
We're in the market for a new T.V. too!
Thanks for asking this question! I'm getting a lot of great ideas =-)
We have 5. One in basement, kitchen, living room, master, and 2 kids room. No fancy tvs here...the one in the kitchen has the vcr on the bottom...lol! Someday we would like a flat screen. We cant justify spending the money on it now. The one tv in my kids room is only set up to do movies...no cable. they are only 6 and 8.
My TV is great. It's a Toshiba but it's a hand me down that came from Singapore. It's really big and we would be devastated if it ever went out on us because we couldn't get another one this size.
We only have one in the living room. I don't think I would let my kids have any in their room. My husband's parents have TVs in all the rooms and when we go down to visit everyone is in a different room watching TV. I find it strange.
My husband and I have 'hand me down' tube TV's. They still work... We still use them. We have 6. Everyone that 'has to get the newest thing' gave us all of our TV's. : )
We only have two tv's. One in the master and one in the living room. We replaced the tv(19 in.) in the master with a Samsung flat screen(40 in.) and really like it. We will soon be replacing the tv(27 in.) in the living room with a Samsung flat screen(50 in.) as well. We have been happy with Samsung and purchased ours at Best Buy. Our children do not have tv's in their rooms (although they have asked for them).
I would go with a flat screen because they take up less space and can be put on the wall if desired. Just pick the size that best suits you.
We like Best Buy and most of ours came from Best buy with excpetion of 2 Dell which came directly from Dell.
I'm probably on the high side.... for the number of tv's and $ in them. The new flat screens are getting lower in price right now and you should find a good deal. Best Buy has great deals often. Check out the weekly ad.
we have 2 46" Dell Plasma..... 1 in each game room upstairs These Dell's are over 5 yrs old and we paid around $3000 for each of them at the time. They are not used that often but when they are, they seem hot.
daughter (almost 16) has a small Sharp flat screen in her room that has a dvd player in in. Very small TV, great picture. Less than $200
Another guest room has a small Panasonic old model tv with VCR player in it. RARELY used
Guest room with a very small tv, great for a kitchen type tv old tv RARELY used.
Master bedroom down has Samsung flat screen HDTV
Our family area has twin TV's (hard to explain....yes... large area, fireplace is in middle, tv's are on each side of fireplace) These are both flat screen Sony Bravia HDTV around $1400 each at the time. Very good tv's, they have held up well for daily use.
The most used would be family room Bravias, daughter's Sharp and Master Samsung....all with no issues.
Hmm, that means we have......8 total tv's.
Just a thought: I haven't had TV since my daughter was around 8 and I left my first marriage. She begged and wheedled for it at first, but we did so many projects, went so many places, and read so many good books she sort of forgot about it during a summer away from her school chums.
When school started again, she observed one day that her friends had such boring lives, because all they ever talked about were the television shows they watched.
Since you're more into function than fashion in your TV, you might want to look in local thrift shops. From what I've seen, used TVs are plentiful and cheap. For the last couple of years, I do have a small, used set that's dedicated to a couple of movies a week.
We have a large flat screen (hubby's dream/Sony) in our family room, smaller tv's in all 3 bedrooms, O. larger O. in the gameroom--mainly for Wii and O. in our garage! Sooooo...that's 6.
We have a Samsung HD DLP, I guess it's about 46" and then a 23" samsung flat screen in our master. The larger TV is about 5 years old and I know there is def. new technology out there. It's a great TV, but I think next time I'm going to push for the wall-mounted flat screen to make more floor space in our living room. And not to shock you, but I've had many TV techs say that the new TV's (plasma or DLP) don't last nearly as long as the old tube TV's. So just keep this in mind.
As for a TV in our daughter's room, ain't gonna happen! ;)
P.S. Saw your add-on regarding Costco ... they are excellent to purchase TV's from. My brother had a year-old Vizio and the remote control wouldn't work. He contacted Vizio back and forth, back and forth, and the problem was never remedied. He called Costco (where he purchased the TV), they gave him a full refund one year later.
I think Costco has great deals.
We have four in our house. However, the one in my son's room isn't connected to anything except the PlayStation. And the one in my daughter's room isn't connected either and only plays DVDs. That being said, the secondary TV is our bedroom and it too is about 20 years old!!!! LOL
I personally don't support TVs in the kids bedrooms because then everyone goes off to their rooms and watches separate shows and there's no supervision. We all watch TV together in the family room. Every once in awhile one or two of us might go to the bedroom and watch TV if we can't reach an agreement on what to watch.
If you can, check out the reviews in Consumer Reports before buying. Good luck.
We've got one 42" flat panel in the living room.
We barely watch live tv (just news mostly).
We don't have cable/satellite and we get a handful of channels over the air (fewer since they went digital).
Mostly we watch old favorite shows on DVDs.
No tv's or computers in any bedrooms.
My sister is tv crazy. She has one in every room of her house (all the bathrooms, in the side of the pool house in the back yard and I think in the garage, too) - something like 14 in all. It's just insane.
We have the same 2 tv's we've had for over 10 years. They are about 32" so they are not the new flat screen or whatever the new thing is. I do have to say that in 2003 my ex husband and I bought one of those huge 65" that stand on the ground with wheels and I really loved it and I miss it (its the only thing I let him have when I kicked his butt out!). The only rooms in the house are the living room and family room. We don't have a tv in our bedroom, nor do any of the kids. We like to do "family" activities and if we do watch TV, the kids watch it in the family room and we watch in the living room. Otherwise, Friday night is "family movie night" and we all watch something in the same room. I don't like kids in their rooms by themselves and if they are, it's right before bed and they are playing or reading. We also don't have any game stations but are considering getting one for the "family" for xmas. Good luck tv shopping!
Hello, When our last t.v. started doing strange things like having two heads on people (one was green) and having two sets of eyes (one set was red), we decided to get a new t.v. The old t.v. was a HUGE projection t.v. We got our present one at Costco. It is a 55" Vizio flat screen. We love it. You can order your Netflix on it if you have wireless internet. There is not extra charge through Netflix. You can also go onto the internet with this t.v. It has a full keyboard on the slide out part of the remote. It is LCD/LED and has a great picture. The Cox guy came out to get our wireless set up for my new laptop and he was very impressed with the t.v. He even stood there playing with it until he got everything going perfectly. They have a pretty good selection at Costco. My friend is looking for a smaller t.v. and we went there to look and compared to other places the selection and prices were better. They also have good sales if you watch your coupon books and check with them.
When my husband passed away in March, my son and his family moved in. He and his wife, his son, and I have t.v.s in our bedrooms. This allows us to watch things on our own since we all like different things. We all went together to buy the new one. Keep in mind that with the flat screen t.v.s you have to either mount them on the wall, or buy a stand that you can either sit it on or mount it on. I babysit my grandaughter who is two and we decided to get the stand and mount it on there. We didn't want it on the wall and didn't want to chance having her knock it over by just setting it on the stand. It is a huge stand and actually looks pretty good. It also came from Costco and was on sale when we bought it.
Good luck.

We have a Mitsubishi 60" Home Cinema 1080p 120Hz DLP 3D-Ready HDTV. It's surprisingly inexpensive and high quality and lightweight for the size. I think it may be this one, but we got it for much less than that, I think around $900? We may have gotten a year old model, so that's why it was a little less:
My husband did tooons of research and this was the best out there in our price range and it doesn't get the ghosting image that many flat screens and plasmas have. I think we got it from amazon, so no tax/free shipping, and we paid it one one payment so no interest either.
We only have one television in our home, and plan to keep it that way, unless we end up with a larger home one day with a game room, we would put one in there. We we will never have a tv in the children's or our bedroom. There is a plethora of research by experts as to why it's not a great idea for tv in bedrooms, so I'll just leave it at that.
We have 4 t.v.s, there are little ones in my girls rooms, one in my bedroom and one in the living room. The girls ones are old school boxy ones and they are less than 20", they are both hooked up to dvd players. The one in my bedroom is an old boxy one too, only its larger t.v. Like 27". The one in our living room is brand new its a 1080p hdtv l.e.d., flat screen sanyo, its 47".
we got the old ones from pawn shops dirt cheap, and the flat screen at best buy for around a thousand dollars on sale with a warranty.
We dont have cable, we have converter boxes and a subscription to netflix, between very few regular shows on local stations and whatever we get in the mail we dont need the cable. I swear my daughters could have their tv taken away and never notice, they NEVER watch it unless they have a sleepover. We encourage tv time as a family and its usually the case.
When i redo my kitchen im going to have a tv put in it, i want to cook with rachael ray and martha
D.:
We have five (5) TVs in our home.
Family room is an LG 52" flat screen
Living room is a Sony 47" flat screen
Kitchen is a Vizio 27" flat screen
Bedroom is a Vizio 27" flat screen.
Den is a 10" Polaroid portable DVD player on a box.

DO NOT get a 3D TV.
DO get HD - especially for sports and movies
We bought our TVs through TigerDirect.com - our 52" was $1999 and it was delivered and brought to the room.
LOVE LOVE LOVE our TVs - the Vizios are really good.
the LG puts out a lot of heat (but what do you expect from 52"?)
Hope this helps!

We have 2 flat screen tv's. one in our bedroom one in the family room. The prices have dropped quite a bit in the last few years. i would buy at costco, it is easy! sounds lame, but we bought 1 tv at best buy and 1 at costco....geez it was a pain in the butt at best buy. and at costo it is really easy to see them all right next to each other.
We only have one TV in the living room. Before we moved, our TV was also old, probably 15 years or so (and it was a hand-me-down)! My in-laws wanted to get us a housewarming gift so we went to Best Buy and bought a relatively small (but larger than before) flat screen Insignia. It's Best Buy's brand so it's pretty inexpensive, and they have great protection plans, too.
I don't think more TVs are necessary. And definitely not in the kids' rooms. Most kids are too connected anyway, and having only one TV gives you a better idea of what/how much they are watching. And, personally, I'd rather have one TV and take more awesome vacations than buying more "stuff."
We have a Sony Bravia (it was a Consumer Reports best buy when we bought it - I have no idea what's highly rated now), and we love it. It's the only TV we have. When we looked, it was relatively difficult to find anything that wasn't flat screen, and the price difference wasn't worth it. We wanted to go with LCD since it emits less heat and doesn't have the possibility of screen burn in the way plasma does since I'm a gamer.
We have a 10 year old mitsubishi. It is a 60 inch and it is in the great room, so you are able to watch it if you are in the den, dining room, or kitchen. We have one in the master bedroom, one in my office, and one that is used for videos only in my daughters room, rarely used. We never hooked the satelite in the other rooms, so there is no service. My adult daughter has a approx 48in Phillips flatscreen in a box in the garage, but again there is no service so she doesn't bother to hook it up in her room. She watches her shows on one of the other TVs or on her computer.
Last Christmas we bought ourselves a new tv, speakers, blu ray and entertainment center. We have a Sony Bravia 52 inch flat screen. We got it as a package deal at Costco at the beginning of December. I think out the door we paid under $2000 for the tv, blu ray and surround sound speakers. Love it so far! We have only one tv in the house.
This is not helpful to you, but we have no TVs in our house. I grew up with lots of TVs in the home and do enjoy watching, but I decided right out of college a long time ago that I wanted to not get sucked in! But I do download and watch a couple favorite tv shows and we have a netflix subscription so my kids can watch cartoons (or we download them). I guess our laptops are our tvs! If we ever decide to get a TV I'll look back at this post to see what people suggest.
We have a 56 inch HD plasma screen from Vizio that we got almost 3 years ago. My hubby had been bugging me about getting one for a while, it seems he had "TV envy", but he did the research and found the above TV at Walmart on sale for something like $800. We've been pretty happy with it, no complaints. My hubby has been seeing 72 and 84 inch TVs that make ours look puny - I tell him to keep dreaming.
We only have 2 other TVs in the house - 1 in our bedroom and 1 in our den, they are both just regular 25 inch TVs that are now each 13 years old. We don't watch them much at all. These were the older ones we watched before upgrading to the plasma screen.
Our daughter is 3, and we don't have a TV in her room. I doubt I will ever allow it.
We have 4-two huge flat screens, one just for my workout room that is a small flat screen and an old one in my bedroom. I personally like my little old one in my bedroom. I don't see the need for HD and surround sound, etc. (My husband would hugely differ on that!!) I couldn't tell you the brands though of any of them.
My kids will NEVER have TVs in their rooms. They are begging b/c everyone they know has one. Well everyone that they know who has one (one child is only 3!) has parents who use the TV to put them to sleep instead of stories and tuck ins. I kid you not-they send their kids up at 8 and say night-night and the kids lie down with the TV until they fall asleep.
We have 2 TVs... One is a Toshiba from when I was in high school. Sooo, it's about 12 years old! It's really small and in our master bedroom. The second one is a bigger one, no idea what size, and it was $20 at a garage sale. Everything works fine! We just got a universal remote for the one from the garage sale and it's great. I'm all about hand-me-downs!
Hi D.,
My husband is kinda of picky. He wanted certain things from the tv like HDMI, USB, blah blah blah. We got a 42" Sony Bravia about 5 years ago. We had a small living room and so that was the perfect size. I didn't want to get lost in the tv. We only have one. I grew up with at least 3 and thought I'd miss one in the bedroom but I don't. It's also bad feng shui. You don't sleep as well. Anyway, one of the things I love about the Bravia is the USB port. We're able to watch pictures from our digital camera on the tv. It's really nice to have our own slideshow without cramming around a little camera or computer. The new thing out will be the flat panels with OLED. It's organic LED which I'm not sure what that means but it's a good thing. I don't think they're out in TVs yet but cell phones will soon be coming out with them. The new HD tvs are amazing with the quality but you have to have HD programming too. Travel and cooking shows are great to watch on HD.
Good luck on what ever you choose.
We have a 46 inch Vizio, and it is great and was cheaper than some of the others. We have 2 tvs, our main one, and a very small spongebob tv in my kids room for there V-smile games and the occasional DVD. They do not have cable. Sometime we do set up the lap top for them and let them choose a movie on netflicks.
We have four...a 52 inch Samsung in the living room, 42 inch Plasma (not sure of brand) for hubby's computer desk (crazy, I know!), 27 inch box older tv in the kids basement play area (only plays DVDs/Videos) and a 40 inch Sceptre in our bedroom (only plays DVDs). I like Samsung however ours makes a loud popping noise from time to time. Not sure why? We did have a problem with it and it was within the 1 year warranty and they fixed it without any issue. My hubby is a big reviewer of any/everything we buy so we (he) did our homework. We bought the Samsung at Best Buy and the box one was handed down to us and the other two were purchased online at Amazon and Newegg.com. I am not a HUGE fan of having a tv in our bedroom (we put it in there about two weeks ago and only my daughter has watched a cartoon on it. We do also have a PS3 hooked up to it but only have one game). But we figure it's paid for and in a few years when the kids and the hubby and I want to watch something different, we can be on the same floor and be watching what we want.
I do not like tvs in the kids bedrooms either...but us having one in our bedroom and letting them watch it is pretty close?
Hmmm....we have 2 TV's. One in the master bedroom, and one in the living room. Oh wait, my husband does have one in the garage as well. They are all ANCIENT...one has to be about 20ish years old too! I feel the same way you do, if it aint broke!!
My husband desperately wants a flat screeen ginormous monstrasity in our house as well, so I have told him when the TV's die he can go ahead and look for one, but these bad boys haven't had ANY issues.
My boys do NOT have TV's in their rooms, and they never will. I know a lot of people do, but I would prefer to know what they are watching! Also, it keeps them in the living room, which sometimes I can just cuddle them while they watch TV. When they are older, it will help to keep an eye on the appropriateness of the shows being watched.
I have heard that Costco has pretty great deals!
We have 4 in our home, but only one is actually hooked up that we used. We have a sony lcd projection flat screen 50" that died this past weekend. This one was only 6 years old, plus some time as a display model and they type it is is know for having the lamps go out right about then. We are planning to fix that one ourselves soon, just needs a new lamp and then it will be the downstairs game tv if all goes well. That one will get hooked up to the wii once it is functional again. We have two small, older tvs that work, but we don't really have a use for currently, one is in the guest room.
Since ours died we got a 3D one this past weekend, 46" Panasonic. So far it is wonderful and the color is amazing. Costco had a great deal and we got a free blu ray player, 2 3D dvds and two pairs of glasses with an instant rebate. You do have to wear the glasses for 3D, but it is pretty amazing to watch a movie or a show in 3D at home. We have direct TV and they have a 3D channel.
Added the sony came from Sears and had been a return and was on clearance. We had been looking for several months when we found that one.
We have one TV. After 13 years our old one just started making really scary popping noises, so we got a new one. I think it's 37 inches and it lives in our living room. No tvs in any of the bedrooms.
My kids are only 5 mo, and 2.5 yo and have only seen tv at friends' houses, the dentist and restaurants. We have 2 TV's - the old school kind that are soooo heavy, and at LEAST 10 years old, but I think older. We WANT a 42 inch flat screen, but like you, don't watch it too much (Tivo after the kids go to bed). The one in the master is really only for those late football games. I heard someone talking about an LED/LCD TV, but I don't really know enough about the technology. Whenever we start thinking about splurging, we go to a place that has a bunch of tvs set up and look at the pictures. Look for crispness, color, and no blurring when the object moves fast. Everyone seems to have a different preference. Good luck, and enjoy.
Hey D.,
We have two Vizio flat screens that we purchased at Costco. One is in the family room and is large, and the one in our bedroom is medium sized. We mounted the one in the bedroom to our wall so we can change the position of it if needed. The one downstairs is mounted on a stand that houses the DVD player, the cable box, etc. Our TV is HD and blue ray compatible.
We did a bit of research and we got the best deals at Costco.
We have 5 TV's in our house.
We have a 47in Panasonic HD TV is the living room, it is about 10 yrs old and on its last legs, it is a big one with it's own stand...and is way out of "style" these days...but like you, why fix it if it ain't broke?...we will be having to buy a new one soon and will be going with a flat screen mounted over the fireplace when the day comes and it will be smaller, probably 42in, that is plenty big enough for us!
We have a 32in Panasonic Flat screen HD LCD TV in the family room downstairs, it is the newest TV in the house and so far, so good.
We have a 32in Sony HD/DVD/TV combo in our bedroom and it's been fine.
We have a 19in flat screen Vizio HD LCD TV in the kitchen and it too has been fine.
We have a 32 in Panasonic regular old TV in the teenagers room downstairs...we do not allow the lil' kids to have a TV in their room but we got the bigger boys a TV for their room for X-mas when they were 17 and 14...and I think that it is fine, it is not hooked up to the cable, they use it to watch movies and to play the Wii and XBOX 360.
We have bought every TV we have ever owned at either Sears or BestBuy.
We have 2. There's no TV in any bedroom, even ours. We have 2 sonys. A sony Wega, and a Bravia. I wouldn't choose anything over sony.
We have two. I don't think my kids will ever have one in their room. I think both of ours are 32 in...maybe a little larger, but not much. We went to the stores and took a look at the tvs...making them hook it up to the antenna, since we don't have cable. Once we found a brand we liked, we bought it on Amazon.com. It was much cheaper. And the delivery included installation. They even offered to take our broken tv for us. I asked, and if we weren't happy with the tv when it arrived, the delivery man would have simply taken it back and requested a refund. It was a great experience for us.
We have a Vizio that we bought at Sam's Club 4 yrs ago. It is a 37" (the biggest I would allow hubbby to get) flat screen. It cost $500-$600. We (hubby) are very happy with it. I have a 10 yr old tv from college that is on the garage. The kids don't and never will have a tv in their rooms (I didn't growing up). So we have one tv in the living room and that's it. Happy shopping!
I'm proud to say we only have one TV (which my kids don't like!) I feel like if we had more, the family would always be apart and in different rooms - this way it brings our fam together! We had an old one for the longest time. Just a year ago we bought a 50" flat screen plasma TV. I thought LCD was better, and it may be, but we love our TV. Our girls are 4 years apart and occasionally want to watch different things, but we have them take turns, and thankfully they usually watch the same things. Before this TV we didn't have DVR, and I am absolutely hooked on DVR now! OH, by the way, we bought ours for a great deal just before Thanksgiving. They start those good deals even before Thanksgiving, and we didn't have to wait in a 5 hour line to get it!
We technically own 2, but only one is set up.
We WERE going to buy an HD LCD Samsung, but right as we were buying a friend was, also. And asked if we wanted their 3 yo hand me down rear projection TV (our friends are D.I.N.K.s, so they're constantly getting the newer/better). The thing is a MONSTER. (Only slightly smaller than a VW Bug, and when I say slightly, I mean it, it takes up about 1/3 of our living room... and I would really like to banish it to the basement, but we haven't actually finished the basement yet). But it was free. Free vs $600 and free won out).
I highly recommend Consumer Reports when looking to buy anything, esp big ticket items. Yes you have to pay for it, and yes, it is sooooo worth it.
No, our son does NOT have a TV in his room. He does have a laptop, however. Which I'm counting, because the laptop can stream movies/tv or play DVDs, even though that's not it's primary function.
We haven't been able to afford the new flat screens yet. We have 3 TVs in our house. One is a 13 or 15 inch that I had in college; it's in my bedroom. Our daughter has a bigger one in her room (20 inch or so), bought used when I was in college. And then there's a little bit bigger one in our living room, given to us by my uncle. So they are pretty much hand-me-downs! haha
My brother has 37" and 52" LCDs. They are nice! Ahhh I'm so jealous! lol
dealnews.com is a great place to find good deals. http://dealnews.com/Electronics/HDTV-Deals-159.html
Don't get a 3D TV though. They are SO expensive & not worth it!
I bet I'm the ONLY ONE in your 40 answers to say that we have NONE, I'm 52 next week and have never had one ever. Grew up without one, as well as my husband grew up without one, so it was easy to NOT get one once we married and have raised 4 kids without ONE. It's been great! IF I did own one, I think I'd spend way too much time in front of it. So, if we do see one at a friends, or a hotel, it makes its pretty exciting! LOL :-) Good luck on your search!
I have a 36" Westinghouse. We only have one tv in our home. I bought it online for a great price. It is a refurbished tv. I have had it for about 2 years now. It's great. It also has a DVD player.
we have just 1 tv - really that is enough lol.
it is a panasonic viera 52 inch plasma - and is the top rated plasma tv.
we got it at sams
We only have an old Sony at the moment. Hubby is planning on buying a new flat screen sometime in the next year. A 50inch Plasma Samsung. It's in our family room.
We just bought a new tv since our old one stopped working, so this is all still new in my mind.
We got a Westinghouse 42 in. from Costco for a great price. We like ours, but will definitely have to add speakers. I think this is commom for newer tvs since there really isn't room on them for bigger, better sound.
A couple of things I learned (and I'm not a technical person):
LCDs have a flourescent light source
LEDs are really LCDs, but they have an LED light source
The Hz number refers to how fast the tv will show the action. 60 Hz is low, 120 Hz is good for most shows. You can go higher, but it's not necessary. If it's too low, then action will look shakey.
1080p refers to the number of lines on the screen. 720 or higher is high definition. 1080 gives a sharper picture.
The letter after that number is either p or i. Get the p, it has a sharper picture. We had an i and the difference is amazing. I don't understand the why behind that though.
Happy tv shopping!
Hi, well in my house we have 4 TV's 1 in every bedroom and 1 in the living room, yes my kids have TV's in there rooms nothing fancy just regular tv's we have a 42" flat screen in the living room which is great!! we bought it at Sam's Club for a very good price! Its a Phillips and its a great TV.
good Luck with your TV hunting :)
Our tv went to that big electronics store in the sky last week (it was 18) and we got a new one at Best Buy (they have a "same as cash" deal right now for big purchases) that we really like by Sony.
Size all depends on what you want to use the tv for and how often. My husband makes video games so he likes that he can fully "experience" a game on a big screen. Plus we do family movie nights so it's fun to have the bigger screen to pretend like we are at a theater.
Technology is improving daily so there are a ton of options out there. Best advice would be to list what you want from a tv (picture, sound, how often you'll watch, etc) and then look at the actual tvs. Take your list with you and talk to a couple of sales people to see what works for you and your needs.
Oh, and we have 2 but the one in the bedroom only gets used when someone is sick and in bed : >
Samsung or Sont all the way. there usually always Number #1 on the cusomers reports. also LCD. DONT DO A PLASMA.
plasmas glar, an if you pause a movie, game etc. the image will burn onto the screen!
We have 2 a 52 inch in the living room ( samsung)
and a 47 inch in the bedroom ( sony)
but theres only 3 in my family and my little ones only 2.
at my old house we had 6 i think. ( Hubbys Parents)
We have one tv, a fairly large (but not really big, it still fits in the entertainment center) Sony. We've had it for nearly 10 years, still works well. We don't have tv in the kids rooms because we want to always know what they are watching. Growing up it was the same thing in my home, they finally let me have a tv in my room in my twenties. LOL
We're in the market for a small flat screen with a dvd player built in for our RV. There's not room to have something that doesn't mount on the wall.
