I'm not a fan of hummus.
I'd much prefer veggies and ranch dip, cheese/summer sausage and crackers, or maybe a hot dip like buffalo chicken dip or jalepeno popper dip (YUM!).
So little E is turning 1 on Sunday! We are having a little party at home with just family and close friends. Both hubby's and my entire families will be there (we have small families, we're expecting 10-12 people) and I am so happy to get to see everyone. I'm kind of stuck on what to serve though. It is at 2 Sunday afternoon, so everyone will have already eaten lunch after church. I'm thinking fruit, hummus and veggies/pita chips, chips and dip...and then I'm stuck. What other light snacks or appetizer type foods should I do? It is mostly adults, the other kids are babies so I don't need kid friendly food. Oh, and we are having cake and ice cream, of course! Thanks!

2:00 is a tough time... in my husband's family (especially on a Sunday) that would warrant "supper". In my family it would be appetizers and cake.
I would do a small one of each:
- Fruit tray
- Veggies with dip
- Warm dip with chips
- Deviled Eggs
- Cheese tray
- Bowl of pretzels
- maybe a small shrimp tray
Just make sure that you are serving cake no later than 3:00 or you will run into the "dinner hour dilemma"!
My logic (if this was my family) would be that I needed to serve dinner. If they're coming at 2:00 then they'll be staying a few hours, right?
I'd probably make something like meatballs in the crock pot with buns and a green salad.
Or a baked Ziti, salad, bread & butter.
Then serve the cake & ice cream after dinner.
If you put out fruit, veg & dip and chips in addition to cake and ice cream, you're a hero! Just make sure you have acceptable beverage options as well.
Sweets
-Strawberry covered in chocolate
-A tray with cookies
Perhaps a lasagna?
french bread sliced and toasted, and topped with bruschetta
french bread sliced and toasted and topped with olive tapenade and sprinkled with cheese.
you can do a proscutto wraped melon slices.
stuffed mushrooms
veg and or chicken quesadillas cut into wedges served with salsa, sour cream, and home made guac.
mini brocolli and cheddar quiches.
enjoy the party.

Tuxedo Strawberries is always an excellent choice. They take little time and can be messed up if they get messed up. I truly use the cheap ones from Walmart, they are $1.98 right now. I don't bother with the long stemmed ones but if you can afford them and have access to them they do look nice too.

Strawberries should be room temp and stay room temp so if you are attending church that morning do them late Saturday evening.
The trick to getting the shape of the jacket is to lay the strawberry on it's side then pick it up and let it drip a moment, then I gently wipe a bit of the drippy area off. Then lay the strawberry on it's other side then repeat the letting it drip part. The V formed by this is perfect. The just use a zip lock baggie or a pastry tip if you have one. The tiny dots are east, practice a bit before hand if you want.
Here are several videos, they are so very very very easy once you start. They look intimidating but they are very very very very simple. We have done them for a RS class at church and every single person was able to do at least one perfect. This is a class that had elderly, youth, all ages and disabilities. They are easy to do and look like you spent hours and hours.
