It truly depends on what you want to spend..but definitely you will need to get the aid if you get the teacher..
Hi Moms,
My son started his little preschool 2 months ago and goes 2 days per week. I want to get his teacher a little present but don't know what's appropriate. He also has a teachers aid in his class "sometimes". Do I get her a gift as well?

Kristy,
I asked the director of my son's school (some schools collect money from the class and then give the teachers a gift card) and she said that they don't do anything as a class. She did mention that the teachers there often work second jobs and struggle to make ends meet. I decided to do Target gift cards since we have the super-target here (with groceries) so they can get anything they need and treat themselves if they prefer. I did $10 for the teacher and $5 for the aid.
Good luck! Christy
when i was a preschool teacher, some popular and much appreciated gifts were coffee shop gift cards and hand lotion sets (we have to wash our hands soooo much :)!
I have found that gift cards for gas, Publix, Target or Wal-Mart are perfect gifts for a teacher... I would give more to the regular teacher (I give $20) and then less for the aide ($10).
As a teacher myself I loved giftcards to target or coffee places.
Hi Kristy,
As a former school speech therapist, I can tell you that nothing is better than gift cards-for anything.
We all have enough mugs and ornaments and the like.
Good luck,
S.
Although it might appear impersonal at first, most teachers actually LOVE gift cards. I have several good friends who are teachers and that's what they suggested when I asked the same question back when my daughter started school. If she seems like the type to enjoy them, a gift certificate for a manicure is nice. Starbucks gift cards have also always been good choices for my daughter's teachers.
Yes, it would be nice for you to get something for the teacher's aide as well.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Not sure if this helps, but I am going to get each of kids' teachers a $15 gift card for Target or Walmart with a Christmas card simply wishing them the best and a thank you. I think all they want is to be reconized as to making a difference.
Gift card for sure!!! Target is best. I wouldn't get her a gift certificate for anything or any place specific (like a manicure or candle shop) unless you know her well and know she likes that kind of thing because you'd hate to spend the money and end up having her never cash in the certificate, or have the place go out of business before she can use the card. For the assistant, if you don't have a lot of money to spend, a $5 gift card for Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks is an idea so she can grab a cup of coffee.
Send a joint gift that they can use at school, I'm sure they won't be expecting anything this year as they have only know you a short while.
I would send cookies or a gift basket with some school supplies in it. Nothing major expensive.

I had the same question myself and have decided on getting my son's teacher a Visa/Amex Gift Card(this way she can use it anywhere she likes) and the 2 teacher's aides the same just in a smaller amount. I am not sure what you want to spend but i was thinking $50 & then $25 for the other two.
My mother-in-law is a teacher & i remember her saying how she hated the cheesy gifts she used to get like magnets & mugs. Why spend money on that stuff when they are just gonna throw it away or sell it at a garage sale. Even if you only want to spend $5/$10 a GC is the best bet!
Dear Kristy (and all other parents with the same question),
What should you get your teacher for Christmas?
That is SO EASY!
1. A gift card to REAL STORES, Target, Wal-Mart, Publix etc. Unless you know their likes and dislikes, stick to generic shopping. Everyone can find something at those stores.
2. Dollar Store items that we have to buy out of our own money for items that we use in our class as give-aways/incentives for your child - stickers, pencils, small toys, etc
3. A movie pass with snacks for me and a guest
4. Get together with the other parents, all put in $5 or $10 and get a nice gift certificate for spa treatments. Let me choose the treatments.
5. How about a certifcate to volunteer for just one day in my clasroom. Maybe to read with the children or come in and offer a speical craft or lesson.
6. Why not make a donation to a local charity in my name?
7. Send a nice note telling meeverything I am doing RIGHT! We don't teach for the presents, we teach to make a difference, let us know we are doing that.
PLEASE - NO soaps, NO creams, NO lotions, NO mugs, NO ornaments, NO cute-christmas-keepsake, and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO "worlds greatest teacher" stuff. I just don't have any more room.
Signed,
Your kid's teacher
Well, since you don't know her well yet, you might want to get her a nice holiday card and maybe a gift card for a local store. Walmart or Sears or something would be good -- very practical. As for the teacher's aide, probably a holiday card would be sufficient.
Peace on earth,
Syl
I went to Pier 1 Imports this year and bought a decorative can of flavored hot chocolate mix in a can for $6.00 for my daughters teachers. Think cheap, inexpensive and affordable...good luck.

Dear Kristy,
Last year I got the teachers and aids $10 gift cards to a local fast-food type place (Atlantic Bread Company). They seemed to appreciate it. In the past I've also done Starbucks gift cards, which were also well received.
Sincerely,
L.

I know of a great place where you can find a gift for your son's teacher. Go to www.neverforgetgifts.com
I love this site - They have unique, inexpensive gifts (and good quality!) I bought some cute items from them -they have specialty mugs, keychains, and other stuff that you can get specifically for teacher, grandparents, etc. They have a big selection. And you can also get the teacher's aide something from here (if you want) because it is inexpensive. I even did some holiday shopping from them too because it is so easy :)
Hope that helps!
I'm a big fan of Muvico Premier tickets. It's a treat that most of us do not indulge; and it's a nice gift! Happy Holidays!
I agree with the GC idea. The movies are great one's to get too. Especially if they are college aid they seem to really like those (like the aid).
I got them for my son's VPK teacher and aid last year along with a bottle of soap and lotion from Bath & Body works.
They loved it. Great sales going on there too right now.
i think a nice ornament maybe one that something about teachers would be nice. the aid well it depends if he talks about her alot like is she in there alot with him???
I used to teach a preschool class, and a gift for the holidays was never expected, but always sincerely appreciated. It made me feel like I was doing something right. I got a lot of gift cards and those were always nice, even if it was for $5. A thoughtful card was also great.
At one point during the year I spent 3 weeks in the hospital taking care of my boyfriend after a bad car wreck (he is OK now and we are married with a little girl). All the kids in my class took a big piece of butcher paper and painted in hearts and the teachers wrote their names next to the one they painted. The thing is huge, but it meant so much to me that I still refuse to throw it away after five years.
Before I left, they made a short scrapbook with pictures of all the kids, and I will always keep that as well. They may have been someone else's kids, but I loved them!
You should also get something for the aide, but spending less money would be appropriate.
I would get her a nice starbucks mug, maybe one of the ones she can put pictures in. Collect pictures from kids in the class and make an insert with cropped pics and a "we love miss deb" note ( or whatever) Then insert a $5 gift card to Starbucks, and get a few other $5 cards for the "other" teachers as well.
On another note, I have really nice Pampered Chef Cookie batter bowls for sale for holiday gifts if you are interested, send me your email and I will send you pictures
You can get with a few other moms and purchase a gift cert for a facial, something that is pampering. Depending on your area, I can recommend you someone that is very good in deep cleansing facials.
look at this website, www.beauvisageinc.com
there special is 10.00 off so for 1hr 15min for only $60.00 for a real facial.
