Hello Everyone, My son just came home with this from a College class andthought that you would all get a smile from it as I did.
age 2-- just learning not a baby anymore and is between 2 worlds of baby to toddler
age3--full of truma, not a baby at all but not a little person really either. Is expected to do new things use potty, pick up things, bedtime etc
age4-- the terrible 2's with a mouth to express themselves, and parents will hear back what they have said to others .
age 6&7-- the become lawyers and can debate and negoiate their thoughts.
age8-- become quarky and silly may even find themselves tripping over their own feet.
age9-17-- preparing for puberty and parents get the chance to become dumb as rocks, communication is nearly none existant.
age 18- becoming parents-- you get smart once again and wise with your advice and very appreciated for what help you have to give.
As the mother of 5 and the grandmother of several I had a real giggle from this. The homework assignment to get older women's thoughts on it. Ah...another day in the world of woman and mother hood. Enjoy Ladies

mother hood is to expect the unexpected. period. your list is accurate but I disagree with 18. that is the age of know it all and are adult and I no longer need rules. and I will do what I want wether you like it or not cause I am old enough to make my own decsions.

I disagree with age 18....I hope to God they are not becoming parents!! My brothers are still dumb (not that I don't love them to bits, and they are FABULOUS uncles, but they do some really stupid stuff!). Boys brains aren't even done developing until about 23 (that's what my mom read, and she is mother of 4 boys...she was trying to figure out why the "stupid" mistakes were happening when they were supposed to be adults!)
I left home at 18 thinking I knew everything and was NOT appreciative of advice until about 23/24....age 18 is not full grown yet.
Also, I think, at least with boys, that the tripping over their own feet happens from about 10 until 14!

Thank you so much for sharing this list.
From the subject line, I thought you were asking a question
and was ready to suggest some excellent books on this topic.
So I was surprised and delighted to read your list, instead.

I remember a story from a long time ago
about how a young man was amazed at how much his dad had learned
in the six short years between when he (the son) was 16
and after he was 21. His dad went from being a dumb no-nothing
to a very wise man with much useful advice for his adult son.
