Hello,

My 9 month old Sweet Pea has a terribly stuffy nose right now. It is keeping her up day and night and she is having a tough time nursing and sucking on her nuk since she cannot breath through her little nose.

I will call her Ped today, but was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how to make her more comfortable until she clears up or how to get her to clear up faster. I did try an aspirator but it seemed more like a torture chamber to her (poor little thing was traumatized- the look on her face broke my heart so I won't do it again). Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone! I bought Baby Vicks on the way home, rubbed it on her chest and back and she nursed (for about an hour) and fell right to sleep. She is still sleeping oh-so-soundly right now, Vicks is kind of like magic. Thanks again!

We always use Vick's rub at our house and it helps a bunch. If you have a vaporizer you might also try that. I know the aspirator seems like torture, but it does get the gook out!! I'm sure you could also use a little bit of infant decongestant without too much worry also.
Good luck--it's tough having a stuffy nose when you don't know how to blow it yet!

We also use Little Noses. It works great. You could also use a bulb syringe to try to suck anything out you can get.

Little Noses nasal drops work wonders for the little ones! Also, you can turn on the shower as hot as you can get it and make your bathroom a steam room, just stand near the shower (obviously not in it) with the baby for about 15 minutes and let the steam unclog the baby's nose. It works like a charm!
I hope she feels better soon!
