My daughter is tutored in math by a former math teacher, and she charges $35 an hour.
I am a SAHM, former Spanish teacher for 10yrs. and am thinking about tutoring in Spanish (at the middle and high school level), but am unsure of how much to charge per hour. Any Moms paying for Spanish tutoring now?...how much are you paying/hour? And Spanish tutors?...how much are you charging? Suggestions please.

We have experience with good tutors.
I keep a tutor on schedule to make sure daughter maintains her A's in her honors classes because she is very involved in cheer and orchestra on top of honors classes. This makes a heavy schedule.
That said.... Honors Geometry tutor $50/hr, Language Arts (we've not used her in a long time but at the time about 18 months ago, $50/hr)
Private cheer coach/trainer $35/ 1/2 hr
Private violin instructor $20/ 1/2 hr
I've heard of tutors with credentials (ie former teachers) getting $45 per hour. I also know college kids do it for $10 per hour.
Since you are degreed, I would charge no less than $40-$50 per hour. And that is cheap. :)
Not sure what the going price for any type of lessons are in your area, but here in Dallas, Texas, I pay $40 for half an hour of baseball lessons; $75 for half an hour of swimming lessons; $20 per half an hour of violin lessons.
Just my two cents,

$50 an hour? WOW. I was thinking more like $15 an hour.
We have our oldest son tutored in the winter for the past two winters this will be the third winter. Our tutor is a regular grade school teacher. She charges $50 for one hr.
I am trying to get an honor student this year I heard they can be about $10 an hr.
It was all basic subjects not spanish.
Tutors.... range anywhere from $30-150 or more, per hour.
My Daughter has a math Tutor... and the Tutor has a Masters degree in Education, and has been a teacher in the school system, and also has a Masters in Library Science and many years of experience. And she charges... $35/hour because she comes to our home, or she charges $30 if meeting the child at a bookstore for example. AND she is the best! So, her "cheap" rates, do NOT in any way, reflect her level of expertise nor ability nor experience.
She charges her rates, because she wants to help kids... of all socio-economic levels... and if she charges what others charge (which is close to $50+/hour), then the children who need it most, cannot get help.
Some Tutors quite frankly, really gouge families...and charge SO much.
My Daughter's Tutor's rates... are a lot less, than if a child enrolled in things like Kumon or Sylvan etc.
So, as a Spanish tutor... there are many aspects to think about.
To me, a Tutor is a Tutor... even if for foreign language. My Husband... and our friends, Tutor in foreign languages... and they charge rates depending on the family's ability... sliding scale in other words. If not, it is about $40 per hour.
all the best,
Susan
