Hello again all you helpful Mamas!

I am looking for some gift ideas. This will be my little man's first Christmas and I am looking for the perfect gift for my son to "buy" for his Daddy. I want something thoughtful. Something that he will always remember.

For Father's Day, Lucas "bought" his Daddy an engraved pocket watch and a watch box with his picture on it. It was a hit! But now I am having trouble coming up with Christmas gifts.

*Please note that Christmas in our house is about Christ and our faith. Any faith related ideas would be awesome. It's not about cost or keeping up with the Joneses. We want to instill in our son the true meaning of this holiday.

Thanks for your help in advance!!

You could do a handprint. I plan to do one somehow with all 4 of my kids. I haven't figured out how yet. It could even have a current picture on it. They sell kits at Michaels and they have them online. Or do one with paint and a poem. Maybe even a t-shirt or something else he would use-handerkerchief maybe.

Hi Sara

You could go to one of those pottery places and make a coffee mug (assuming your husband drinks coffee or tea) with your sons' hand and/or foot print on it. We did this for Fathers' day when my oldest was under a year old and we still have and use the mug 4+ years later. Or, you could get a plain canvas from Michaels (Joanns', etc) paint it a color that would match a room in your home or your husbands office and use a coordinating color for a hand or footprint. You could even spraypaint a canvas red and use green hand and/or footprints to signify his first Christmas. I hope these ideas help. Good luck!

For Father's Day this year, I created a personalized photobook (using Shutterfly or one of those sites) that featured pictures of Daddy with each child from the hospital and then every month after that. It is really touching to see pictures of him with each child, month after month, in one place. We were so impressed with how nice these books can be that we purchased a second copy so that each child would have his and her own copy one day.

First of all, I'm sorry your mother died and I think it's wonderful that you try so hard to keep faith in your family's life and am sorry you have to work so much.

I found a clock at walmart for $15 yesterday that has photo ovals for every number and you can put photos in there. Personalization mall online has a lot of stuff you can engrave.

But personally I would get a Christmas tree ornament. If you want it to be snazzy you can get one from Macy's or bed, bath, & beyond, but otherwise you can make it yourself out of the baby's sock or something, and it will be a sentimental keepsake.

Another suggestion is to ink the baby's feet and put them on a white necktie for your husband.

I don't know your religion, but in the Catholic church we can have a mass offered for someone, or send them a spiritual bouquet. Those are ideas too. Good luck!
