What Time Does Your 4 or 5 Month Old Go to Bed at Night?

I'm just curious. My guy goes to bed around 6:30/7pm, but wakes up throughout the night. Not sure if he would sleep better if we put him down later. Would love to know how your baby sleeps at night, and what time you put them down for the night.

Thanks!
T.

So What Happened?

Lately, my little one has been getting up for 1-2 hours in the middle of the night. :( Not fun. I don't mind getting up to feed, and put him back to bed, but the sleep deprivation has been really tough. I'm a night owl, so just when I get to bed, the waking starts. Guess it's time to get to bed earlier!

I have twins. When mine were that age we put them to bed around 7:30 and they would wake up on and off throughout the night. They did that up until almost a year old. But it did seem to be for shorter amounts of time as they got older. I did try putting them to bed at all different times, but it did not seem to make a difference. I used the pacifiers up until they were a year old, which also helped. Also, for me as they have gotten older they go to bed earlier. Now they are 19 months and go to bed at 6:30 and wake up at 6:30 or 7:00.

Babies, wake during the night. It just is.
Your baby is real young... they wake... and ESPECIALLY if going through a growth-spurt.. because they get hungry and need to feed.
For the 1st year, it is important to feed on-demand.. 24/7... because this is a building-block period in development.

My kids as babies, woke every 2-3 hours or so, for the 1st year. Its normal. I breastfed. They simply had GINORMOUS appetites as well. I woke up at night anytime they did and nursed them.
They grew like weeds and were super healthy.

A baby... as they mature, will sleep for longer periods. Naturally. But when going through growth-spurts or developmental changes... THESE things, wakes them at night. Its also normal. They are changing and growing so quickly... it is hard for them too.

AND... it is important for baby to nap. At this age, they nap about 2 hours after being awake. If over-tired.. it actually makes sleep worse for a baby.. and then when over-tired, they actually have a harder time falling asleep and sleeping and they wake more.

all the best,
Susan

Usually 10pm, but at that age they did get up to nurse through the night until about a year.
Now the kids are 2 and 4 and we changed bed to 8 due to preschool. But 10 is always my ideal time because no one gets up super early. A mom needs to sleep!

most babies wake up during the night at this age and it doesn't matter what time you put them down. Mine went down between 8 and 9 and stopped waking up in the middle of night at 10 months when I let them cry for a little bit and taught them to go back to sleep on their own.

My boys have gone to bed at 8 since birth. By 2 months I had them both sleeping from 8 until around 530 when they would wake for their night feeding, and than they would go back down until around 7 or so.

My son (now 4) was a terror and really didn't sleep through the night until he was 3 yrs and in a real bed.
My daughter is much better. She's almost 5 months. When I was breatfeeding her, she would get up at night to feed. We recently but her on formula and she is sleeping much better. She takes a quick nap at 6:30 pm and then wakes up and eats around 8:00 and then goes to bed shortly after. She wakes up once during the early morning (around 4:00), cries for a little bit and then she falls back asleep.

My 5 month old has her last feeding at 8:00/8:30 (she naps before that), and goes down about 9:30/10. She then sleeps through till 6:30 when I pry her out of bed.
