What's Your Two Year Old Into?

Hi moms.... Out of curiosity, what are other two year olds into these days? I don't have a lot of experience with toddlers outside of my own so I don't know what is typical vs what is becoming her personality. Since early on, my daughter has LOVED animals, real ones, stuffed ones, plastic ones, shows/movies about them, etc. Do all kids go through this stage or is it something unique to her?

My soon-to-be-two is into puzzles. She does the alphabets and 1-10 numeric puzzles again and again. Another favorite of hers is music. We're of Indian origin, so she is into Indian classical music. She'd sway and tap her feet to the rhythm.
Her latest favorite, is Dora the Explorer! :)

Right now, my DD is 'into' dinosaurs. Instead of a stuffed animal, she carries around a plastic dinosaur. If she sees one on TV, or in a picure, or ANYWHERE she immediately proclaims "DINONUAAAARE, RAAAAAR!"

My little guy loves animals too! he loves everything and anything about them. That is the only thing we can have a back and forth conversation about at the moment. anything else I try to talk to him about....I hear crickets.
He also likes watching shows about animals and music and right now he loves Little Einsteins on Disney Jr. He asks to watch it every morning.
2 is my favorite ago so far! They are so much fun.

Music, not just any music the "right" kind. No telling what it could be, but when the groove got a hold of her, my little girl had to dance.

Animals of course, but the odd ones. No your typical kitties or puppies. Squid and whales, exotic critters like meerkats and lizards. At 6 she wants to know why the zoo can have these animals and she can't...after all we have a fenced back yard.

It could be a stage but some kids just LOVE animals.
Mine does.
My friends who have 2 kids or more........one of them loves animals in
each family
With some people, loving animals is just an innate ability.

When my son was 2, he loved blocks, toys of all kinds, started liking watching a cartoon DVD (that really came at age 2 1/2), balls of any kind to roll & throw, bean bags to throw, his little comfy chair to sit in, matchbox cars, stuffed animals, watering plants, going to parks, going for walks in his stroller. Loved the outdoors. Loved me to play with him!

at 1-2, my son was super into learning animals' names and sounds. the local petting zoo was one of our favorite places :) one of his first words was "DUH!" (for duck lol). i do think animals really get their attention at that age.

She might be an animal lover. :)

My son wasn't noticeably "into" animals, though he liked them well enough. My daughter LOVED stuffed dogs, and any other kind of dogs. Her first "lovey" was a stuffed Pluto. She took him everywhere, belted him in a seatbelt in the car, etc. Then she collected more and more stuffed dogs. Because that is what she liked... dogs. When we got a puppy, she would crawl into the dog's crate with her. She couldn't get enough of the neighbor's puppy before we got our own.
And she STILL loves dogs.
My son... he likes animals well enough. Loves our dog alot. But he still isn't the "animal person" that our daughter is.

So, it may well be that she is going to be an animal person. Only time will tell. Just teach her the proper way to interact with them, and to always ask permission from owners. :))

My daughter has always loved animals she would rather go to the zoo or aquarium then the park but she is also like that with books she loves books for her 2nd brithday that is what she asked for. I think all kids just know what they like and don't like from early on she isn't a fan of toys that talk of make nosie where most kids love them. I think your daughter liking animals is her personality.

Animals, movies, music, trucks/motorcycles/planes/fast cars, construction stuff, water, dirt, books (about anything, but his favorite right now is an Old MacDonald book with the little flaps that you open to see what's in the haystack, or whatever). He loves looking for "nails" (snails), eating, dancing, and riding his "bike" (a miniature big wheel looking thing). He hates bugs. Hates them. I've never met a child who didn't love animals, or at least one type of animal (horse, or cat, or something). I love that stage.

When my son was 2 he was super into music. He knew the names to all the musical instruments and loved to play them. He wanted toy versions of every instrument. He was really really into dancing and songs. He was not into cars or dinosaurs like his other buddies. He is 8 now and he is still really into music, but now it is popular music. My daughter is 2 now and she is really fascinated with animals. She LOVES them. She wants every animal, bug, duck we see to be her pet! She is not into baby dolls but likes to pretend stuffed animals are her babies. So, she is like your daughter. Our neighbors have chickens and goats and she tries to pet and hug them all, she has no fear. It's pretty funny. She also will play ANYTHING her big brother is playing...she copies him. So, she shows interest in funny things like playing with nerf guns, his toy electric guitar, skateboards and bikes. She wants to do everything he does so badly, but of course she is too little. :)

My first one loved the stuffed animals. My second wasn't but liked dolls. Both are crazy about getting into shoes and clothes, and dressing up (like all day long). Stuffed animals sounds less messy than clothes and shoes. Count yourself lucky.
