What's Your PMS Cure??

I am in an AWFUL mood this week. Worst I can remember in a LONG time. Period is due soon - so I am sure it is a nasty case of PMS this month. What makes some months worse than others?! (rhetorical)

What do you find helps you when your patience is beyond thin and you are cranky beyond cranky?? Hubby has had meetings yesterday and monday evenings so I really haven't gotten a break from Mom Duty and I keep telling myself this is what I wanted to do (SAHM), but this week is SO LONG.

Today, tomorrow, and Friday I am babysitting so the extra toddler in the house is dreading and just making the end of the week so much more crummy...usually i have kids at the beginning of the week and the end of the week is my break.

So - What's your cure for PMS?!

What can I do next?

Running and hot tea before bed.

Theresa N, you should be a doctor! :)

Vitex
Red Raspberry Leaf Tea
Estrofactors (Metagenics is the brand)
exercise
cut out refined sugar

For what it's worth, I'm miserable this month too. I'm really sleep deprived so it's making it much worse. I hope things get better for you!

I only know of two sure fire PMS cures.

1) Pregnancy
2) Menopause

While both haved worked well for me to "cure" PMS, in hindsight, I'd rather have PMS then either of these. Furthermore, everyone who knows me wishes the same thing.

Sex.

I was in a fiendish mood many years ago PMS'ing, and had a rather foreceful attitude adjustment by a friend who was sick of dealing with me. LOL. It took a few months, but ever SINCE that era, I only get snippy/cranky/emotional/patience-free-zone/etc. when I CAN'T have sex.

Instead of cranky/belligerent/irate, my initial emotional response to those hormones are yum/purr/prowl.

NO IDEA if that would work for most, much less all. And I cant tell you how much i did NOT want to brave sex the first couple times feeling like a sick Pitbull. But he was pretty insistent. And after awhile, pretty convincing.

Seriously GREAT way to
- take out ones frustrations
- replace with happy happy

So maybe not everyone.

But it worked over well for me!!!

They say exercise really helps but im in the same boat as you this week sucks and I feel bad for whomever falls in my path. I know I dont want to exercise, I want to sit down with some peace and quiet and have some beer. AHHH that sounds wonderful. Too bad I can already see my day planned out and none of that is possible.

What is GLA???

I don't get PMS often, but when I do...it's bad. I take time outs. I will go somewhere, sit down, turn off the light, and decompress. Even if it's just 30 seconds, it allows me to regain my sanity.

My period is my cure for PMS! It's like the calm AFTER the storm.

But for real. I, too, take time outs, more than DD :-). I know that it's better to be alone than risk snapping.

I just told everyone to stay the hell away from me and not to ask me for anything unless it involved a need for a cop, a fireman, or a paramedic.

After I had my endometrial abation, my PMS went away along with my periods.

Last time I had it, I put my laptop on the table in an empty rm----- danced to my favorite music videos on You Tube. I must have danced to 6 or 7 dance tunes. I could dance to the song "Everybody Talks" 3 times in a row. I love disco songs, too !!!

I eat lots of veggies, get a ton of sleep and have at 1 or 2 mint hot chocolates the wk before.

PS It is awful !!! I hate getting so bloated...I try to go easy on myself and say that I am more more period closer to my LAST period--even though it's yrs ago. I do enjoy being "thin" the week afterwards.

My sister swears that Midol helps with moods. I may invest in some for next month. I don't have cramps, but my moods were MISERABLE for a few days. Mine was aweful this month and I hated it. I couldn't stop it cause I didn't see it coming. I ate too much, was snarly, and tired. It's over, thank goodness, but I'm making some changes because of it.

I started taking a little melatonin before bed to help with sleep. I am taking 1/2 hour after work, 3x/week before I pick up my son from aftercare, and am going to veg out with a cup of tea, reading a few chapters of a book, somewhere on the way home. I'm already looking forward to that "me" time. I've never done it before and it feels fantastic.

I was lucky that work was slow - I was able to ask to leave 1-1/2 hours early and spread that out over my lunch times the rest of the week. That short "break" took the edge off and gave me some energy.
