What's the best way to make a family tree for my child (and for us)? Is there a website out there, or software that's very simple and visually pleasing? Maybe something we can print out that's easy to read, that we can keep in his baby book? Ideas?
Thanks! :)

try geni.com. that's the one i've used. it's nothing fancy but it's free and easy to use. you can also invite others to add to the family tree if they're interested.

Martha Stewart's website has printables for family trees.

Also look on Etsy. Lots of great ideas there!

Well, I know that ancestry.com is a biggy but to make it visually appealing you may have to put it together yourself. If you went to ancestry.com and got the workup of your family tree, you could then do a cute colorful tree of your own using scrapbook papers that you could frame.

I have done several and the ones that make the most impact on kids are the kind that have pictures on them. Go to a local scrapbooking store and ask the ladies who work there if they can recommend some realy cute papers or layouts where this would work.

The problem with using printed paper instead of the paper that has blanks spots to write on is that often you have to struggle to see and read the information under the person's picture.

I like to google scrapbooking layouts for family trees too.

Here is a layout section that has ton's of ideas.

I love the ones that look like a tree out line and you write your name in the leaves. Or the ones you can put your thumb print on and write your name beside the print (great for thanksgiving or other family gathering holidays). Those two types would be best for your childs room. I like to image search family tree to find the one that I prefer. Were all different and have different styles or needs to express the family history. My grandmother has books on geniology . bookS!!!! She is really into it while I am not its nice knowing one of the family members has all the info. She even traced one of my brothers dates as being a seventh cousin! Which we would have never known if it werent for her. Perhaps you have a older family memeber that is really into it and you can copy her/his family tree.

Pinterest . com also has a few family trees that are cute.
