Order both sizes. Try them on her and send back the one you don't want! Really most places take things back if all the tags are still on!
We're going to Jamaica with friends in March. My daughter will be around 20 months. There is a skirted 2 piece Kate Mack swim suit that I really, REALLY want to buy her, but I want it to still fit in summer as well when she'll be 2. I don't want to spend the money if she can only wear it on the trip. Also, I hear that toddler swimsuits run small and you should always buy a size up. Is that true? She's not big or small--she just turned 18 months New Year's Day and started outgrowing her 18 mos stuff recently, which I think is right on target. It's just that the jump between 2T and 3T is huge, so I'm afraid the 3T will be too baggy on her when she's 20 months on vacation, but a 2T will be too small by summer. So do I buy a 3T and hope it won't be too baggy or loose when she's 20 mos? Or do I get a 2T since she'll turn 2 this summer?

My sisters in law bought my daughter 2 different swimming suits & we only used one this last summer and honestly, I thought it was a waste, because she only wore the top with a t-shirt over it so she wouldn't get burnt (even though she had sunscreen on). Instead of the bottom, she wore a Little Swimmers diaper. If it were me, I'd buy the Little Swimmers diapers & find a really cute t-shirt.
Have fun on your trip!
Generally I would say that Kate Mack one piece suits run a little small and that Kate Mack two piece suits run basically true to size. In your case, I would get the 2T. I have a girl who will be 2 in March, still wears 18 month clothes and I have a bunch of Kate Mack suits in just about every size - that's what happens with 4 girls. Anyway, we went to the indoor pool the other day and the Kate Mack 2T and 24 month suits we tried on first were way to big and we had to go with one that was 18 month size. I would also say that a lot of places will have the Kate Mack spring/cruise collection arriving in stores soon if it hasn't already so you could always take your daughter with and try it on at the store.
I have to say I can't stand when I see little girls at the pool with swim suits hanging off of them and all there privates exposed. I wish it wasn't so but we do not live in a perfect world and there are alot of not so inecent people out there. Swimsuits are not the same as clothes, they need to be snug or else when they get wet they will hang (even if they don't hand when they are dry. Swimsuits are not an item you want to buy for them to grow into.
My kids pretty much stayed true to size for the most part though sometimes I did buy a swinsuit in a larger size. It depended on the cut. I am not familiar with this designer but usually a 2T is slightly larger than 24 months. A friend of mine used to order one of each size and then return the one that didn't fit. Do you think your daughter will have a really big growth spurt in the next 6 months? If so, i would go with a slightly larger size.
since it's a 2 pc the 2T should be plenty big for summer and now both.
Can you try both sizes on her at the store? The 3T is best because she will grow and diapers take up a lot of slack in the size of the suit. The 2T may not even fit with a diaper. She'll grow into it over the next 3 months and practically "live in it" over the following 4-5 months.
Sounds like your daughter is true to size, so I would go with the 2T, as toddlers they don't grow as fast. I have a 3 yr old that wear 2T and won't be able to wear 3T until next fall/winter. There is a huge difference between 2T and 3T, take it from me. I wish that company made 1/2 sizes! I hated the 12 to 18 mo. gap to! Why no 15 months? (just venting)
I say go with the 2T and it should fit her through the summer. My daughter is a little over 2 and has pretty much been in the same size (2T) for the past 6 months, and she is actually a little tall for her age :)
Have fun!
3t for sure bathing suits for some reason run very small. i bet the 3t will fit fine right now. have fun!
I would definitely do 2T - my daughter is 23 months now and I noticed that they really slow down during the second year of growth compared to the first. She's in 24 month clothes and most 2T stuff is pretty baggy on her. If your daughter is just growing out of 18 month clothes now, there's no way she'll be 3T by summer/age 2.
Hi there, I also love the Kate Mack suits. I would buy the 2T for 2 reasons. Kate Mack 2 pieces runs true to size ans the tops are normally a little longer so even if she grown a bit it would still be fine. The other reason is that Kate Mack suits for toddlers through 24 months has the thicker waterproof lining in them but as soon as you go to 3T it is no longer the case. I think they assume a 3T would be potty trained. I found it nicer to have the liner even if she was wearing swim diapers. Hope this helps. L.
If she is already in 24mths now, then I would buy the 2T. The 3T will probably be huge. The 2T should be fitted enough and still leave room for a swimmer diaper.
I would buy the 2T. Kids don't grow out of two piece suits as fast as a one piece. If she's on target with her height & weight than she'll be able to wear the 2T this summer.
Have you tried 24 mos. size clothes yet? That is the next step up from 18 mos. size. I am sure you can find a swimsuit in 24 mos. 2T & 3T are Toddler sizes...so would be way too big for quite awhile.
