Wow, I am the third A. on here LOL. Anyway I like the White cloud the best and they are better quality than Parents choice. They were well for my youngest ones which are one and almost three (hopefully I will get the three year old potty trained soon) When my two oldest were babies, my almost 8 year old and almost 3 year old I used Pampers or Huggies because they had sensitive skin. When My youngest was a newborn I used Pampers but when he was about 3 months I started using White cloud and haven't had a problem with them since.

i have 2 kids..ages 1 and 2-- so I have changed a few diapers..

I have probably tried every brand of diaper out there.

Some of the store brand diapers are ok.. Kroger diapers are ok.. so are the kmart little ones. Walmart white cloud are ok..

BUT.. they do not fit as well and they do not absorb as well.. So you end up changing diapers more often.. so I doubt that you really save any money-- and you definately dont save any time.

My kids are skinny so they fit best in pampers baby dry... They absorb well. The pampers cruisers are a "premium"diaper so you pay the same price but get less diapers per pack.. I dont think they absorb as well and they do get more gel on the babys skin.

Huggies are too bulky.

Luvs arent bad. but I think they are have too much perfume in them-- they are stinky.

For overnights... HUggies overnite diapers are the best. You can find them at target cvs.. but only size 4 and 5 -- if you need size 3-- you can only buy them at babiiesrus and toysrus.

You might need to buy a bigger size.. boys need the diaper to fit higher to avoid leaks.. they cant wear bikinis!!!

The Pampers "Baby Dry" brand works well for my son. We've been using them since size 2.

We didn't care too much for the Pampers "Cruisers" because the mesh made cleaning him too much of a chore. However, I'd use those in a pinch - if I really really needed too.

Pampers is a good product and you can always find coupons for them too.

I loved the costco brand. I have twins and we went through a ton of diapers and rarely had to deal with leaks. double check his weight to match your size, and make sure they fit (no rubs or too tight) each child is different in shape/size so you may need to experiment with a few different brands.

good luck!!

I have always used Papmers and have been very happy. The rule of thumb I always followed with my daugher (2yrs old) is when she started leaking out of her diaper I would go to the next sixe. I believe the box always suggested a bigger weight then she really was. She is now 30 pounds in a size 6 and the weight on the box starts at 35 pounds.

keeping in mind that every kid is different, and nothing works 100% of the time for everyone... We couldn't use store brand diapers, other than Walmart, and those were not always worth the savings, in terms of night time leak throughs we had at the end. Luvs, and Pampers were the only ones that consistantly worked for my son. Huggies were too bulky, regardless of their "baby shaped fit", and he would consistantly leak through them.

Luvs are cheaper than pampers, and work just as well imo.

We used Target or Walmart brand diapers. They worked just as well as Huggies or Pampers (I didn't like Luvs). We got the Meijer brand ONCE - and had serious leak through issues. That was the last time (although my husband did get them by mistake a couple times - I returned them). You could also try a slightly larger size and see if that helps. It may give him just a little more diaper coverage to minimize the leak through.

Hi,
I just want to let you know that most commercial diapers are sprayed with chemicals like formaldehyde for a longer shelf life- this really isn't a good idea to have these chemicals on your child's private areas for 2-3 years. My daughter orders Seventh Generation diapers by the case from diaper.com and they are great. They are not bleached with chlorine and they look a little tan color, but they are so much better for baby. Try them- you will love them.

I would say try pampers, I had leaking problems too and the Pampers seem to work the best. I have also put a larger size diaper on him at night.

Hi J.,
I am new to Mamasource. Logged on and saw your message/question. I have a 3 year old son and he leaked through constantly. The only ones that worked for him were Luvs. I used those for day time and had to buy the Huggies Night time ones. Those work the best. Good luck!!

I've found that there are about 3 major types of diapers out there. The cheap kind, they come out of the box feeling stiff and I have to scrunch them up to get them to bend around my child - also not much elastic. The inbetween kind, they are not stiff, they have more elastic and they aren't as prone to leaking. And then the Expensive name brand kind.

Now that said. I've tried all the name brand ones over time and the only ones that I think stand out as worth the extra money is Huggies. I am also a huge fan of their wipes and containers. Huggies are stretchier, therefore the actual diaper is smaller and not so bunchie in the crotch. I can get away with size 3 in these where I usually get size 4 for my daughter in other brands. I tend to look for good sales on these, but don't buy them otherwise.

The middle of the road ones I find to be totally satisfactory. This includes LUVs and Pampers. They're just as good as the Kmart, Target and other off brands. I find Target is the best deal on these types of diapers, especially if you by the box.

The ones I'd avoid are (from the cheap ones): Parent's choice (walmart's brand), White Cloud (they used to be good, but now the quality is terrible and they leak a lot!), Meijer's brand. I really HATE these brands!

Hope this is helpful. Everyone has their preferences, but I'd stick to the cheaper ones unless you're going for Huggies. Best wishes!

We love Huggies because they seemed to fit my son better than any other brand, he is a pretty big kid and the pampers always seemed to tight on him. We currently use Costco brand and they work pretty well. We just have an issue with him leaking through at night sometimes.

Yup...I agree with most mom's on this one too.

My son was a big wetter as well...especially at night. So I went through ALL the different brands just to see if there was one out there that worked and was cheaper....jeez, they are expensive!!!
BUT...I found that the Pampers were the best for him. And I mean the ones that have the tape on the sides...not the velcro and not the ones that are smaller to give more room for them to move around. He needed the regular pampers and I just tried to make sure I had coupons for em by joining the pampers website and even wrote them and asked for more. Surprisingly, they sent me quite a few.
I would try both the pampers and huggies and see which one works for him.
Good Luck! :)

As for the brands trial and error is the best. :-) Personally I have used Luvs and currently use walmart brand parents choice. I have also heard good reports on ALL the brands of diapers. (AND bad one too.) Just as we are all shaped differently, so are our babies. Check your little ones weight and make sure that the diapers you are getting are BIGGER than he is. :-) Other than that its all in the buying small packs of multiple brands and trying until you get the one that works...

Good luck!

I would skip the Luvs if you have a heavy wetter. IMO, Huggies are the most absorbent, next best are Pampers...but my youngest wets through EVERY diaper. We use overnights at nighttime and he still sometimes wakes up wet. You may find success with another size though. It all depends on baby's shape (which will change as soon as you find the perfect diaper...LOL) and how they move!

We found that the store brands we have tried end up leaking with our 11 month old. I did it to try to save money, and instead end up using more diapers and doing more laundry. I think Luvs works pretty well and is less expensive than Huggies or Pampers. When we can, we get the Huggies and Pampers. Often times I have gotten cheaper diapers for the day and use the ones I know will work best at night only. Good luck experimenting!

I'd say go up 1 size, thats what I had to do when my daughter started to leak. However the only brands I could use was either Pampers, or Sams Club brand! I hated Luvs, Huggies, Target brand, Kroger brand, etc.. They were awful.
But everyone has their preference, this is just what worked well for us and seemed comfortable for our daughter
:)
Good luck

You might try going another size up. I always err on the larger side for diapers for that very reason. Also, I'm sure some store brands are great, but I've tried CVS and Costco (Kirkland) and they were both horrible. I stick to Pampers.

Use the weight chart on the diapers. My son is 16 months old and is in size 3, because he is 24 lbs. With my other two children we always used store brand or Members Mark from Sam's Club and we always had issues. With my third, we have only used Pampers. Other than one blow out when he was about 3 months old, we have never had another problem. They were recommended by another friend of mine. I know that they are a little more expensive, but well worth that little extra bit. only a couple of diaper rashes (they keep him dry) and we use fewer diapers. So it probably works itself out in the end as far as price. My husband doesn't like to use the Pampers Cruisers (there are 2 kinds of Pampers) because they have a lining in them, so we just use the regular ones. Even when Caden started crawling and walking, no leakage!!! Everybody likes something different, but we swear by these. Good Luck to you!!!

Of Huggies, Kirkland, and Pampers, we found Pampers Baby Dry work best. Since my son uses cloth & only disposable at night, we have rarely had any leakage problems, at least nothing major. It's an experiment for sure!

When my kids were in diapers, I had the same problem. It is worth the money to get a quality brand. LUVS is a great brand and a little more cost effective than Pampers and Huggies.

Also, I have a 2nd home in Gulliver Michigan. Are you far from there?

You need to get a diaper that fits the weight of your child. It will say right on the package the weight for that size. You should know his weight since he has probably been weighed regularly at his doctor appts. Actually, I am surprised he is already in a size 3. My 2 3/4 yr. old daughter is just now moving into a size 5. I found LUVS to be completely adequate, no leaks. I was using Huggies, but they are more expensive. LUVS cost less than Huggies and Pampers, but are better than store brands. Of course, make sure you are changing him regularly, too, so you don't have those leaks. Good luck!!

If you're within the weight guidelines for size 3, you're using the right size. I remember there was a period of time when my son leaked out *all the time* no matter what I did, or what brand we used. I'd change him before nursing, and after, and there still might be leaks. I think it was just the consistency of the material, and the force with which it came out. I do think it helps to try to avoid pooping in an already wet diaper. Eventually when things thickened up, the leaks stopped, we hardly ever have those kind of accidents anymore. I've tried many brands (Pampers - Huggies - Target - Luvs - Rite Aid - Costco - Kroger), and to be perfectly honest, most brands are pretty good. The store brands, including Costco, are produced by the major mfg - Kimberly Clark and Proctor & Gamble. Hang in there!

I just swithched from Pampers/Huggies to Seventh Generation diapers. These diapers are more natural, they don't have any chlorine or dyes in them.

I didn't realize how many dyes and chemicals most commercial diapers have in them! It's pretty amazing!

My son seems to be allergic to something in the other diapers so I'm trying the "natural" brand to see if his bottom clears up. He's currently 25lbs and wears a Size 4.
