I have a 2 year old girl. It seems like she is afraid of everything.. She is afraid of the little green light on our smoke detectors.. she is afraid of a small stuffed cow that goes "MOOO" -- My favorite has to be worms... The other day we were walking in a parking lot and there were worms on the sidewalk.. She had a fit and had to be carried because ofthe worms on the sidewalk.. Is this normal.. Do you have a 2 year odl that is afraid of everything.. Does it get better..??

What can I do next?

Its mostly an age thing in most cases. SOmetimes it is a reflection of your fears. If you have a fear of say a bug and freak all the time that fear gets passed on and they are taught to be afraid of bugs. However it sounds like normal 2 year old things. Let her know calmly that it's ok, try to get her to tell you why she fears them, if you can, it may be that she doesn't know how to react, yes I know she's 2. If she like birds, try telling her the birds eat them and she will see more birds...good luck

My daughter was afraid of a lot too. Now that she is almost 3, it seems to have gotten better. She had a crazy fear of bows for about a year, that she is finally over. She is afraid of creams (don't ask), and sometimes heights. She gets so scared sometimes she shakes. It must be a 2 year old phase. :)

The world is a big scarry place at 2 yrs old. I think girls tend to be more affected by it than boys in general.
Our daughter (now 6) stepped on a lady bug. One of the orange ones that sorta sting you. It got between her toes and she REFUSED to walk at grandma and grandpas house for about a year. She would freak out if someone said lady bug...
But whats our son, now almost 4, scared of? right now its BUCKS... And my hubby doesn't make it any better by snorting and yelling buck if boy is out side. But that doesn't stop boy from going out and helping to look for bucks with daddy. lol (I think they are gluttons for punishment)
My little brother was scared to death of an imaginary friend he called "baboom". My hubby got my nephew in laws to fear Yaks... His sister really got on him for that...
My niece in law (currently 11 months) screams EVERY time she sees this odd looking duck puppet... My 11 mo. old son LOVES the same puppet.

If you explain what the purpose is, and don't make a big deal out of it, they usually get over it soon... You've probibly told her things like " the green light helps let mommy know the house is safe... Or the worms make the ground healthy..." It does get better, their fears diminish as they grow in their mental ability to reason. Thats when our fears as moms kick in... So sit back and relax, Enjoy seeing her running around being scared of worms. It won't be too long before you hear the dreaded scentence... " I think he's cute"... AHHHHH!!!

Just before my daughter turned 2 she saw the big shark that hangs from the ceiling at the Toledo Zoo and almost had a heart attack (figurativly of course). I had carry her ot of the building screaming. That opened the "I scared" door. From that moment on EVERYTHING scared her. Now, about 6 months later, she is getting a bit braver and even wanted see the big shark.
I think that it is just a faze that kids go though!

I think it's hereditary. Both of my children fear bugs. I fear bugs. There are things my son fears that are exactly the same as my MIL's fears such as he's terrified of Santa and the Easter Bunny. My daughter literally freaked out at the doctor's office (at 12 years old). She was so bad that the doctor wanted to sedate her to calm her down. I've found that most fears go away, some don't. It depends on the child.
