Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten? Is that opposed to IN-voluntary PreK where the kids go kicking and screaming instead of peacefully?
I guess I go to INVW (Involuntary Work)! :)
Must be Very Pricey.
That's really it. Just that question. I keep seeing it and don't know what it is. So,
What is VPK?
That's exactly the context. All I could come up with is "Very Pricey Kindergarten" but I knew that couldn't be right.

Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten...it's a program provided by the state of Florida to any child regardless of income who will be entering kindergarten in a year. It's the states way of making sure as many children as possible are "ready" with basic skill before going to school. It's only for a few hours a day and is kind of on a semester type of schedule. Good for a state like this one where so many of the poplutation are not native English speakers. We opted not to take advantage of the program but instead paid the money to put our twin boys into a private pre-k Christian program that did not participate in VPK (receiving money from the gov't...vouchers). We had our reasons, won't go into them here but to us, they were very valid ones. But that's what it is in a nutshell...
Sorry for my spelling mistakes, I just re-read but don't have time to correct because I have to go pick up my kids from school RIGHT NOW!! LOL
I've known it to mean Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten. Is VPK being used in that kind of context?
Haha!! Very Pricey could be correct, in a lot of places ;)
Thanks, Bug and L.! I was curious too! :)
Glad you asked I don't know either and was wondering!
Here is a web site that explains Voluntary Pre Kindergarten. Seems like it's a Florida program.
It is Voluntary Pre Kindergarten here in Florida. Most of the daycare centers around me offer it.
