How do you request to be a friend to someone and what makes it different to except a friend on this site ? I see sometimes someone's profile will have a list of people in their friend box. How does that work ? Why do people except a friend or send a friend ? thanks so much for your help in answering this.

I have people that are my "friends" on this site, typically it is someone whom to may PM with often or someone you get a long with or agree with - it is up to you how you utililze the feature really.
Since your friends show up as quick links on the friends page, it's an easy way to see if they've written anything new. If you like a person's responses you can friend them and check back to see what they've written whenever you want. The site is pretty active and unless you stay on here all the time, it's possible to miss a posting by a favorite "author". The friend tab fixes that.
I friend people that I PM a lot, makes it easier to find them. Other than that, I dont really know what the point is. :)
