WW worked for my sister over 10 years ago, but I have done it in the past and haven't had much success. Like others have said there is too much wiggle room.
They are advertising WW 360 . What is that...........? 5 days on and 2 days off..... isnt that the norm as you have extra points to use up on a given special weekend or occassion ???? Would like some incite before I take the plunge.

I swear by the old old WW. Teaches you how to eat for life. The greatest diet ever. Not sure about the new one. Lost 80 lbs. 37 years ago. Four grown children and only gained 15 lbs. considering menopause and age, I do not think that that is bad.
no, not that at all. it's really about more "education". They are discussing and offering more knowledge, encouragement, and ideas in their meetings, trying to help you approach weight loss from many different sides. Points haven't changed :-)
They have some newer tools to help you calculate excercise points etc..
I did it years ago, lost my 10% (16 pounds) then quit, but am back a it the last 4 mos. It just changed over to the 360, but its more of a re-branding. Still the points plus system for calculations, but they are stressing routines, and "whole life" stuff, ie, 360 degrees of your life, not just diet and exercise. So you can create or use their "routines", like getting enough sleep, planning menus, having a healthy snack with you at all times, getting enough water in a day, things like that. More of a whole life approach is all I can get out of it.
Refreshing the old same stuff to make it enticing. But it all does work, no matter what they call it!
And no, it is NOT 5 days on and 2 days off, etc!!! You do get 49 spare points to use up all week, or not use if you choose to. You best bet is to track each and every day, face the scale and don't miss a meeting and weigh in!
Good luck!
I joined weight watchers a little over 3 weeks. I think, that, it is a diet you can stick with. After you get the hang of the points system it really does work and you do have "wiggle" room to eat out and not feel deprived. For me, maybe because I only have about 15lbs to lose maybe? ..... It is coming off slow. I have lost 3lbs. BUT it is 3lbs CONSISTENTLY! lol - I am so happy with that. 1 pound per week. Of course I'd like it to come off faster, but...... I am still enjoying my glass of wine and still enjoying the occasional (or weekly) dinner out. I do feel a little hungrier than normal but I think that is just my body adjusting to smaller portion sizes. Also, you can eat all the fruit and raw veggies you'd like (they are zero points) ....... Of course if you eat 10 bananas a day you would probably gain weight lol ... but if someone is truly trying to lose weight you do have to have "some" self control.. LOL like I said, It's a little rough at first but ... the point system does work. Oh and like someone else said , it's not 5 days on 2 days off. You have your daily points allowance, then you get an extra 49 "weekly" points. To use whenever... all at one time, or throughout the week. I usually do a combination of both. And I don't really use all of my weekly points. But you have that option so you don't go binge eating.
I should recuse myself because I've always been thin, but I know many, many people who have done Weight Watchers. I just don't get the point system.
I worked with a girl who wanted to drop 10 pounds before her wedding. She already had a slamming body. But, whatever.
We had an unusually warm day and our other coworker offered to go get us some ice cream bars. WW girl said she couldn't have one because it would put her over her points for the day. I was like, "WHAT????"
She asked me how many points I thought she got for the day and I said I didn't know, but I guessed around 100. She almost fell off her chair laughing. (I told you, I don't get the point thing).
I can't give you too much insight, but I do know people who the system has worked for and they've stuck with it diligently for many years. Some have been very successful with the Weight Watcher's method.
Best wishes to you.
I don't think it's that different. They just have to try and make people think it's new every year so they get new members! They had a "new" program last year and I joined. It my second time on WW and my second failure on it. I think it works for some people, but not for me. I could stay within my points and work out every day and not lose more than a few pounds. I have to be on a low carb plan. It's the only thing that works. It's just hard to do that for life!
I am with Patty K on this one. My mother lost about 145 lbs on the old weight watchers (which is basically tracking your CALORIES not your points and showing what a serving size is! genius) and refuses to do the point system.
Says it gives her wiggle room to cheat.
The only thing I've noticed that is different, is they are trying to get you to balance out all over (at home, work, on the go, etc). I've been able to choose 3 "goals" that i want to aim at daily (i.e., eat breakfast, have a fruit/veggie with every snack, take time before getting seconds). It's nice to check those off. I've noticed a difference in the new points plus versus the older WW plan, especially in the area of carbs. Things higher in carbs are now more points (where before they were lower) and things like fruit are worth no points - but I still count a point for them (my own personal choice so I don't over-do it on fruit). I haven't religiously stuck to the program since I started - but i lost a few pounds just making some changes (like eating breakfast every morning). I plan to get more focused on it.
I just signed up for WW online and haven't noticed a difference.
