What Do You Watch on NETFLIX Streaming?

I don't have cable. I do watch hulu. But I also have Netflix streaming. But I am bored, with the exception of watching Seasons 1 and 2 of Parenthood on there. But what else is there? What's good? What were the last 2 or 3 movies/shows that you watched on there that you actually liked? (I find that most high-starred movies I've already seen ie Good Will Hunting and the low-starred movies are low-starred for good reason). I guess I'm looking more for a movie or two for me and husband to watch. I am content with Parenthood, but there's nothing for him and I to watch together after the boy goes to bed (Watched So I Married an Axe Murderer on hulu.com, but didn't find anything else good on there). And yes - Netflix seems to be what we use for the kid shows - Garfield, SuperWhy, etc. So what is there good for the adults?

So What Happened?

Looks like most of you watch a lot of TV on there and not so many movies. Maybe I can get honey interested in a new show. I do agree that 45 minutes after the kid has gone to bed is much better than a two hour movie. Saw the Fighter, but thanks for the suggestion. Perhaps I see some Mad Men in our future. And I will look into some of the other suggestions y'all mentioned for movies. Some I have never heard of. (Mom told me that the "GIrl with the Dragon Tatoo" type of movies were quite graphic. Not sure if my honey would like that or not. Going to go read some synopsises (sp?) of some movies and tv shows and adding them to my queue! Thanks ladies!

We watch almost all the documentaries that have at least 4 stars, especially about WWII.
Chariots of Fire is one of my all time favorites.
If you haven't seen the Fighter, it is great.
I will be so glad when they get the new episodes of Damages.

My husband and I alternate nights of Mad Men and Friday Night Lights. We're usually too tired for movies, and the kids might not be totally down until 8:30 or later so a 45-minute drama is just right.

LOVE streaming! My sons love Family Guy, King of the Hill, Mythbusters, & many movies.

I LOVE old movies, watched all 3 Dragon Tattoo movies (the originals with sub-titles), & am currently watching the classic 1970s show "Soap". I have wonderful memories watching this series with my family! It was pretty much a party night at our house....because the series was so insanely, ridiculously funny. I find that I am still laughing over the insanity....& what's even funnier, lots of bloopers/mistakes which I'm enjoying catching!

& movie-wise: Love, Marriage, Wedding was cute. The Ramen Girl was too. The Bounty Hunter with Jennifer Aniston & Gerard Butler. I try to keep up with the new releases on Instant Play.....they're on there for a very short time! Hope this helps.....

Great question. I only have netflix, so the answers here will help me, too.

I seem to go for comedies... Worst Week of My Life is HILARIOUS, but a fairly short season. Um, I don't know your sense of humor, but Trailer Park Boys cracks me UP (not for everyone I guess...you gotta have tolerance for cuss words)! I actually watched Desperate Housewives, Parks and Recreation and The Office for the first time on Netflix and completed all the episodes they have on there. I was late at catching up, but it gave me something to watch. I also watch others.

Warning: the first two shows (especially T.P.B.) mentioned should not be watched with kids in the room!

OH, I just saw The House of Yes yesterday on Netflix because we love Parker Posey, had no idea what to expect and CREEPY! Do not recommend, especially if you have a twin brother. LOL!

When we can't think of anything to watch, we check out all the lists on there. Top 100 greatest movies of all time, top rated movies, most popular, etc. We always come up with something that way. We've been into lots of classic old black/white movies lately, and a bunch of 80's movies.

I like to go to the independent/foreign films and documentaries, there are surprisingly a lot of good ones on there. I also like period pieces, like the BBC Masterpiece theatre (North and South/Wuthering Heights/Middlemarch/Jane Austen type films)... I also watch the regular blockbuster and action type movies, but it's neat to see the suggestions they have once you start branching out. A lot of the low-star movies turn out to be pretty cool, so don't automatically dismiss those. I love to watch old 80's and black and white movies too. So neat to see how campy they really are... and fun to make fun of. They have lots of lists too, so that always helps to browse those.

TV series we've watched, LOST, Office, Buffy and Angel, Dresden Files, Legend of the Seeker, Bones, Firefly/Serenity, Cake Boss, Hoarders, Pawn Stars , Psych...

A few movies we've seen recently that were interesting, Arn: the Knights Templar, Carriers, Leap of Faith, Skin, Moment of Death, Ink, Sweet Land, Food, inc., Everything is Illuminated, How to Be, Primer, Wal-Mart, The high cost of low price, Confessions of a SuperHero, Fat Sick and Nearly Dead...

Go to "Watch Instantly" on the Netflix website and peruse their selection on your computer. You can't think of everything just by typing stuff in the search on your TV.

When you use your computer to select things for your "instant queue", it will recommend other things you might like, so choose "Parenthood" and see what other options it gives you, or cruise their "comedies". After you choose a few things, it will recommend things for you.

The Fighter is the last AWESOME movie I watched.

Oh my gosh I'll never make it through my instant queue of thousands of movies :-0! Last night I watched Amadeus. Haven't seen it since it came out. Awesome. The night before I watch Lust, Caution (hi, crazy sex scenes within WW2 Chinese flick...)I've got several art documentaries saved. I've watched every Masterpiece Theater series. The kids and I watched Punk: The Early Years for a few minutes tonight-just long enough for them to see and hear a little real punk rock...and then a bit of a documentary about Audubon, the bird painter...and some Jean Michel Cousteau thing with diving. I like 70's movies "Dog Day Afternoon" with Al Pacino...and westerns and french movies...if only I had more time! I get through about an hour of something and I'm toast and go to bed :)

My kids are always watching He Man.

I watch Mad Men on netflix, and I think Weeds is sitll on there too. Both very good and very addicting shows! On Hulu i've been watching Modern Family, Up All Night and the Office (they also have all the past seasons of The Office on netflix instant too). We don't have cable either....soooometimes i'm tempted to call up our cable company and get it, but then i think about how i would much rather spend that money elsewhere than on a cable bill each month

I just watched Sherlock, only 3 episodes but so good! I've also been watching Dollhouse and Firefly, even though I have the DVDs it's easier to turn it on Netflix streaming. Oh! And they have all but the newest episodes of Psych, which is exciting. I've been watching them while I make dinner.

HA. My husband and I hardly ever watch streaming on it (when we do it is because hubby is feeling ill and we put on an old school show, like Rockford Files or something, lol). We still get the DVD's to watch. However, our kids watch streaming all the time. My 10 yr old daughter is watching Jackie Chan Adventures as I type this... she LOVES that show! They had on Curious George earlier, lol.

We are SciFi people so we watch a lot of those shows, like Warehouse 13, Eureka etc., they are light hearted but usually have some mystery. For just a good laugh we have been watching Bernie Mac and Malcolm in the Middle, we like those bc they are fine for the kids but are not cartoons, which we need a break from sometimes! For movies we recently watched Case 39, which is a thriller and was kind of scary, but not too bad. We watched Apocalypto a couple weeks back and it is GORY but good. I think that Gothika is still available, it was a thriller too, but not graphic, just jumpy ;) I have never seen Meet Joe Black, but I plan to watch that if I can ever find 3 hrs available to do so! That's all I can think of as far as movies go, I just buzz through periodically and see if anything looks interesting. We also watched The Fighter, which I really liked, but then how can you go wrong with Mark Wahlburg and Christian Bale??? Hope that helps!!
