Hi Mommas,

My husband, son and I will be moving to the Raleigh area next week, and I am looking for fun activities to do in the area with a two year old. I really don't care about cost right now, I'm just wondering what other moms do to entertain their children. We have been the Museum of Natural Science and LOVE it, we have gotten a season pass to the Ashboro zoo, and I have heard that there is another museum in Durham that has some great animal exhibits, but I want more! Thanks in advance! :)

What can I do next?

M.,
Google out the Raleigh Parks and Recreation website. There are a lot of fun things to do offered by the city. We love taking our son to the parks -esp Pullen Park. There is a train there that my son absolutely loves to ride. There is also a historic carousel with hand carved wooden animals. There is plenty of walking, playgrounds, and open spaces there to wear out the most energetic of two year olds. Also, at Pullen Park is a public indoor pool. We are going to be signing my son up for swim lessons there this summer. He loves the water and it's something we can do together. There are a lot more ideas on their website for fun things to do. Good luck with you move and welcome to the area!!

we just moved here a month ago also. My son (now 26 months)was breastfed so I checked out La Leche League to find us some friends. One suggested to me that the city of Raleigh has huge childrens programs. I believe you can have him take an art class for 3-4 say mondays for like 12 bucks. Their is also the Marbles children's museum which we plan to check out soon after hearing many raves about it.

Depending on which area you move their are a variety of super nice parks with bathrooms, pavilions, water, ect...We live near Lake Benson. It has the lake, a turtle pond, several small parks, a huge playground, walking trails, and field areas. When you get out here if you like I would be happy to meet up and let our son's play so he has somebody right away.

Hi, I would check Carolina Parent monthly magazine - free at Harris Teeter grocery stores and other places. They have events posted and you can learn about all the things available around here by looking at the ads too.
