P.D.
We bowl every other weekend and I would highly recommend it. Definitely a lower cost date night. You can always look for coupons or specials too.
I'm tired of the dinner or a movie. We don't get enough couple time as it is and so I want to make the most of that precious time. We always have a good time together and enjoy each other's company, but I'd like to try some different couples activities. BTW, couples classes won't work because we don't have a regular babysitter we can count on. Don't want to spend a gazillion dollars to have a good time either.
Love the ideas so far! Keep 'em coming!!!

We go places to play triva, comedy clubs, tasting nights at tapas restaurants, play poker, have game nights at friends houses (their kids will come to our house and one babysitter will watch them there)... anything that is "reasonable" and gets us out of the house.
We mix it up by meeting for lunch which is nice and quick while providing a good midday break. We also love wine and cheese dinners, tapas restaurants, the local museums and the zoo. The zoo is really fun when it's just us and we go in the early evenings so more animals are awake. A nice walk around the park or a trip to the antique mall or garden center.
We enjoy fine dining and great wine.
Wine tastings, great restaurants, a round of golf (I don't play, I just observe), since we are in the burbs of Dallas, we get good sporting events, concerts, etc,
Sometimes just walk on the trails throughout the neighborhood.
Enjoy!
Here's a few things we do:
Have dinner, then go to a coffee shop and work a crossword puzzle together.
Go to a park, take a picnic
Walk around downtown (or at a mall or park) with coffee and people watch or window shop
Wine tastings, at a vineyard or at a restaurant
Grocery shop (not kidding, it can be very romantic just the 2 of you, and you get things done)
Cook a nice gourmet dinner (we have some of the best conversations when we do this)
Once a week and/or once every other week we have wine/cheese night, and sometimes a picnic in the living room. Both candle-lit, of course. :)
Chineese take-out and a movie that doesn't have any DISNEY characters in it!! =)
Have fun!!!!!
What's a date night?
I'm just kidding. How about bowling?
Botanical Gardens for a walk, picnic, or at least some cheeses on crackers and wine. We like to go to plays: professional or community theater, it makes very little difference to us, we just like to go and then talk about it during intermission. Any kind of festival or fair. Concerts, or a concert or play in the park. We check the paper or community events to find out what's going on and plan a date accordingly: a car show, improv or comedy clubs, an air show, once we did a Top Chef / yacht hop event, polo match, we do love to eat---a lot! We like to go to a coffee shop and just kick back and talk, catch up, with no kids around. We'll look at magazines and discuss the headlines or articles. We like to go to jazz clubs, blues bars, or there was this Cuban restaurant that turned into a "club" on Saturday nights with live music, salsa dancing, and lessons too---we loved that when we were in that state. The arboretum, museums, swimming, puttputt golf, go-karts, we like to do the Dave & Buster or Main Event type stuff occasionally. Movies are still fine with us, sharing popcorn, cuddling up. We like to stroll around and talk while taking in the sites (especially downtown), and we had this weird game we liked to play later in the evening (or after buying a ticket somewhere and waiting for time to do it): we'd walk into Barnes & Noble, go to the travel section and pick a country we haven't been to yet, bring a couple books with that place to the coffee shop, get a couple coffees and share a dessert, and glance through the books. We'd "tour" the country, where are we going today, what are we eating, what are we seeing or shopping for, etc. Just kind of silly, but fun to us. Sometimes we go to the beach without the children, or go kayaking and enjoy the silence. The best date we've had in a long time was for my birthday and we had plenty of time: we went to an indoor shooting range and shot some guns (had some laughs), went to a costume shop and tried on some fun stuff, ate at an AWESOME Middle Eastern restaurant, took a nice walk in a wooded park, and then went to a musical. Tomorrow, we've scored tickets to a good table at an event the Marriott is putting on: dinner, big band / swing concert, dancing. I can't really swing dance (would love to but just...no way!) but we'll enjoy watching the faster stuff, and dancing the slower stuff. REALLY looking forward to it!
I love going to the mall with my husband. If we can ever drop the kids at grandparents houses, we will usually take in lunch and some retail therapy. Just wandering around through the stores, not worrying about a double stroller, hungry kids, wet diapers. Ah, just thinking about it makes me want to go shopping without my boys lol!!
We like "day dates"..... We go to the beach, we'll go kayaking, (I'm in Florida) we'll go to an outdoor bar place and eat lunch, have some drinks, and listen to live music.. We'll go paintball shooting with our friends...
We've gone to a comedy show at night~
I like Luna's answer to the wine & cheese. Do you have a local winery you could go to? Some of them have restaurants where you can grab a bite. We don't get out much ourselves so I am excited to see the answers you will get. Not sure where you live but would it be possible to get a room at a nice hotel & enjoy a nite in?
How 'bout going to karakoe...it's alot of fun...my niece in Neveda just put on FB that was where she was going with her hubby this weekend.
This may sound boring to most people, but one of our favorite things to do together is simply go for a walk. We get a chance to talk without distractions and it's free!
Date night....people have those? ;)
