Yoga and swimming helped me a great deal when I was pregnant. Unfortunatley I think the best remedy is birth!
I am about 2 months pregnant and have a 19 month old lil one and I am drained of energy. Does anyone know of anything that I can take or drink or even eat that will help me with some energy, I would like to be able to stay in good shape while I am pregnant so that I do not gain too much weight this time. Anyone have any suggestions?

hi B.,
you're at a difficult stage, especially with an active little one to take care of! so take extra good care of yourself. plenty of water and rest, eliminate caffeine and processed sugar etc. a really efficient pick-me-up is a handful of almonds and raisins. for an even better punch, soak the almonds first.

I agree with everyone else, especially about the water. I had to drink half a cup of coffee every morning. Half a cup won't hurt you or the baby, as long as you're not having more caffeine the rest of the day. I found the half a cup kept me going for the morning and afternoon. Then I took a little nap with my daughter and was ready for the end of the day. Hope that helps! And remember - drink your water and take a GOOD prenatal (some really don't do anything at all, they just go right through your system. I recommend getting one from a health foods store).
Hi B.,
The other two responses of water, swimming, and yoga are all what I used as well with both my pregnancies and they work great. Because of swimming and yoga, I had no complications during delivery and had a fast recovery. I also was able to have a quick push time because doing yoga strengthened those muscles. Also, make sure you're taking your prenatal vitamins. If they make you sick like they did me, make sure you're eating a lot of broccoli (which has folic acid and other vitamins that you need during pregnancy) and spinach leaves. I couldn't take a vitamin as they made me feel yucky. Have fun and God Bless.
Nap if/when he does.
Also it is crucial you are well nourished. You should be striving for 65g+ of protein a day. Try to limit processed sugars and starches. Eat more fruits and veggies.
Doing some gentle yoga is also revitalizing.
B.,
I go over this in my HypnoBirthing classes. Water at least a half gallon a day if not more. Also cut back or ideally eliminate on sugar, caffeine from your diet.
B12 is a great help.
If that isn't doing the trick. Blue green algae/ spirulina and chlorella is safe during pregnancy.

When I was pregnant with my 3rd child (and had 2 toddlers) a Nutritionist adviced me to make sure that I took time to eat healthy snacks. A handful of nuts, humus with tortilla chips or veggies were some of her specific recommendations because of the protein. Also, skip house cleaning and take a nap when your 19-month old naps! Good luck.
As simple as it sounds, WATER. Keeping hydrated can make a huge difference. I notice when I am feeling like plopping on the couch, a BIG drink of water makes such a difference. Another good thing is frozen grapes. I'm not sure why, but they get me going. Sugar plus the coldness I guess. And last, walking. Exercise can wake you up. Listen to some fun tunes on your ipod and strut!!
There really isn't anything you should "take". Make sure you are eating healthy (not alot of processed sugar) eating a little protein with every meal & snack. Plenty of fruits & veggies. Take your prenatal vitamins. Make sure you exercise, even if it is just a walk with your son in a stroller, and REST. Make sure you go to bed when your son does including his daytime nap if you're at home. Good luck.
Hi, B., Are you taking Prenatals? If not, that would be a good place to start. Have you heard of the Access bar? It is a scientifically patented fat conversion bar, used by many athletes! Sustain Sport can be helpful, too. Good luck to you! Enjoy your pregnancy.
Had the same problem. My son was 3 1/2 when I was pregnant with my daughter. A jogging stroller did me well. If you start a routine to go out for a walk at the same time everyday. First it will help you overcome that period of tired and it will keep the other one excited about going out. Also, I used every family/friend around in the begining to watch him because I was exausted. He enjoyed the outing and I enjoyed the nap which made me enjoy our time together even more. I am not sure where you live but If it is not too far, I would love to meet and perhaps once we become friends we could have playdates with our little ones and give you a nap time or just out time. If you have that system in place already, great. It was a GODsend when I was pregnant, and helped alot when the baby came because he was used to going to family or friends houses for the afternonn that it was no big ordeal when I needed it. You can email me anytime if you need help, I have little ones too so I understand.
