I have started walking more and my feet are killing me:( I have tried both running and walking shoes from Kohls, but my feet are hurting:( If any moms out here walk, what brand of shoes do you wear and where do you buy your shoes?

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Asics or New Balance but don't buy at Kohls. I know New Balance shoes go by the number, the higher the number the better the shoe. I think I usually go 700 or higher. Typically the ones at Kohl's are low, same with DSW. If you are walking seriously I would go to a running store or look online if you want a deal. I just got Asics at a local running store and love them.

After two foot surgeries, my podiatrist recommended New Balance and by far, they are my favorite walking shoes. Very, very comfortable and supportive.

I have a major foot issue and I am still in an ankle brace with minimal walking.

Per my Dr. I have high end New Balance and Asics. Don't go to discounters to get the shoes.. You feet need good quality, sturdy good shoes. I go to Luke's Locker or Run On in the Dallas area.

Good luck!

I only walk in New Balance. They have a removable sole so you can insert your sole of choice. I often use Superfeet, sold at good sports stores or eSoles through a trained physical therapist.

I wear saucony and can get them at a reasonable price on Zappos.. IF your feet are killing you, shoes may not be your problem.. I have foot issues, on the right neuromas and on the left one along with three bone spurs in my heel.. I mention this PRIOR to going to the Podiatrist ( a good one that is) I spent a lot of time thinking it was my shoes that weren't giving me enough support, then turns out..... it was the damn Neuromas (inflamed nerves) that were the problem... The Neuromas will never go away, I just had to learn how to manage the pain. this means no more Zumba or Aerobics... Am x-ray won't show you if you have Neuromas, you have to get an MRI of the feet... unless you do that, the doc is only guessing as to what the problem.. (which they often do)

Merrills and New Balance both are great. I look online for a sale but try to get one from the last year (not too old). Don't get the minimalist shoes from Merrill. Go for the fully cushioned running shoes for both these brands. Ahhhh.

We buy our athletic shoes at Academy, they divide the shoe based on the activity they were designed for and are reasonably priced. I use New Balance as do my parents and brothers.

I have VERY low arches so the running store I used to go to in Dallas before we moved said I should stick with either Asics or New Balance. You may have just bought the wrong shoe for your foot type. I always get Asics now, usually on sale at Sports Authority.

I have a great pair of Sketchers that I love. I bought the pair I have at Costco. They don't always have them unfortunately.
But lately I have moved to the minimalist shoes or "barefoot walkers". I have never felt better once I went to those! Most people think of the 5 toe shoes but you can buy them with a traditional toe box. Mine are by Merrell. The Vibram soles are the key. I bought my pair at REI.
