Just interested in getting a list of which finger foods have worked best for you.

My son is 14 months old and a very picky eater. In particular, he has a major aversion to fruit and I'd like to try to get him to eat just a little.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

My 16 month old's favorites are craisins, blueberries, cut up pieces of cheese, frozen peas, corn, little shell pasta, baked salmon pieces, avocado, crackers. She likes to dip crackers into cottage cheese...she scoops some out and then eats it off the cracker. :) Just keep offering foods over and over. Two weeks ago she hated green beans and this week she love them.

Have you tried giving him a whole or a half of a banana? About this age I started giving my son the whole thing, well I broke it in half, b/c he wanted to feel "big" and eat it with bites. Blueberries are also a big hit around here. My kids like them frozen. They aren't too solid and can still be easily chewed. My son is picky too and he loves freeze dried fruits. They are still crunchy and not sticky b/c of the way they are dried and there is not added anything...no sugar or preservatives, just fruit! I get mine at whole foods but Costco and Target have a few choices now too. Whole Foods has much more variety. My son will always eat dried fruits, in fact he'll eat dried strawberries and peaches but not fresh.

Our other favorite finger foods are cereal bars (I also get the Whole Foods bars b/c there isn't any High Fructose Corn Syrup), cheese sticks, Baby Goldfish, Ritz, Veggie Booty, and cooked carrots and peas.

Good luck! My first wasn't picky at all and this picky stuff stinks!!

Fruit cups (diced fruit in fruit juice - not syrup) were a great transition for our sons. The fruit is soft and bite size so more managable than say an orange or pear but it introduces the texture of different things. Our almost 3yo eats all kinds of fruits and veggies now. Our 13mo eats just about anything you put in front of him so the transition from mushy baby food to finger foods has been easier. I think bananas and avocados are tops on his list. :)

have him dip the fruit in yogurt. My son loved to dip his food in anything. Still does -- ketchup, ranch, mustard, italian dressing, honey mustard, bbq.

Bananas, Cheerios, Scrambled eggs, Pears, Peas, Oranges (cut in slices w/peel on, so they just gum it or get all the juice), Steamed Green Beans, Beets (canned), Buttered Toast, Avocado, Crackers (Ritz & Saltines), Cubed Lunch Meat & Cheese, Raisins...

~Now I am sad that my kids are no longer this ity-bity!

Pieces of turkey (lunchmeat) and cheese, apple, peas, hard-boiled or scrambled egg, cheese omelet, steamed carrots, oyster crackers, banana pieces, yogurt with mashed fruit mixed in. He used to LOVE homemade applesauce.

I would 2nd what one of the moms below said - fruit and cereal bars are a HUGE hit with my 14 month old. You can get the organic kind at Wegman's or I'm sure Whole Foods... Earth's Best sells them too.

have you tried the freeze dried fruit or the fruit puff wheels? It could just be the texture of real fruit that he dislikes.
