I'm trying to put together a good, uplifting song list for someone, and I'm hung up on Mumford and Sons 'The Cave' (because it's just a cool song), but now I'm having a brain fart, LOL!!
So what are your all time favorite, positive and empowering break up songs? Doesn't matter what the circumstances, just any suggestions are appreciated. She's in a good place right now, just trying to keep her happy going and I'm trying to support that :)
DUH @ Gloria Gaynor, see? I'm having a brain fart, LO!! Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep them coming ladies!

I have empowering breakup artists. I would not have gotten through my divorce without
Alannis Morrisette Jagged Little Pill. Completely wierded me out when I found out she wrote all of those dark songs about Joey from Full House.
Aretha Franklin - AInt No Way, The House That Jack Built, and more
Bob Marley - 3 little birds, no woman no cry, one cup of coffee

I love Mariah Carey's "Hero", and what girl doesn't sing "I Will Survive!" once in awhile?
I really like "The Sign" by Ace of Base." My favorite line is:
I saw the sign and it opened up my mind!
And I am happy now living without you
I've left you, oh-oh-OH!
"This One's For the Girls" by Martina McBride. We played that when I tossed the bouquet. It's just a good "girl power" song.
This one's for the girls
Who've ever had a broken heart
Who've wished upon a shooting star
You're beautiful the way you are
This one's for the girls
Who love without holding back
Who dream with everything they have
All around the world
This one's for the girls

My Mom heard this one with me and almost fell over laughing she thought it was so good.

Irreplaceable by Beyonce...I'm not always a huge fan of hers but this song is great. The Cave is a great song bc it can be applied to almost any challenge we face in life.
has some of the best lyrics "The rollercoaster ride we took is nearly at it's end -- I bought my ticket with my tears -- that's all I'm gonna spend"
Written by Paul Simon
