My DD is 4 and I guess I'm lucky. She has always had really solid #2s so she's never needed help. My sister had to seriously crack down the summer before her 4 year old started kinder though. I think 4 is about the average age for this one..
My daughter will be 5 on March 21st and has been potty trained since she was around 2 and 1/2... When she has a BM i still wipe for her... I know that i need to start learning her how to wipe herself before she starts school in august, but she hates the idea...
SO, my question: At what age did you learn your child to wipe themselves... thanks

My kids were taught to wipe themselves simultaneously with potty training.
Our son never wanted to wipe or flush till this year (he is 7). We were constantly reminding him. He does it just fine now. Sigh. It's a long road for some kids.
each child is different when they can develop the skill to wipe their own butt.
Mine TRIED to yipe their butt when they were 3...I still went in and "cleaned up" until they were around 5.
This is a developmental thing - not necessarily something that is taught. You help them develop the skill to reach around and wipe.
He's always gone to school (child development center etc.) and "fully potty trained" meant without assistance, so he's been wiping himself on weekdays since 2 1/2. I still wiped him at home most of the time until 4.
what worked for us was telling my son that you can't go to kindergarten (which he SOOO wants to do!) until you wipe yourself. i told him this several times, around his 5th birthday, and a few weeks later, he just started doing it. no big hurrah, not a huge deal, just came home from grandma's one time and she said, "oh by the way, i have no idea why or how, but he wipes his own bottom now". all righty! i kinda left it up to him and that worked for us. if she's excited to go to kindergarten next year maybe that would help. - if she is really resistant i would offer to "check" it for her until she gets it down. my son was into the "do it myself" thing as soon as he decided to do it so we didn't do that, but it might help her.
My daughter will be 5 at the beginning of March and she's been able to wipe by herself for about 4-5 months. I just started having her do it in front of me and I would check to make sure it was fine. Then she just started going on her own and never asked for help. We have flushable wipes that we still use.
It's the question of the day!
There's a bunch more answers here:
my oldest was just shy of 4 when he started wiping himself. The second one was a little over 4 when he started.
3 when they were potty trained fully. if she doesnt like the idea try the wet wipes my younger was more reluctant to do it on her own and thats how we got her doing it. just make sure they are the flushable ones!
my son was about 4 1/2 when he starting wiping himself completely.....my daughter is going to be 3 and we can finally see the end of the potty battle and shes always wiped herself.....clearly shes two and a half so i do double check her..... its different with all kids i thought i was going to be wiping the boys butt til he was in college lol
one of my daughters was six and my current just turned 6 still needs my help.
