Weird Stuff Going On. Should I Go to the Doctor?

I breastfed all 3 of my kids. With my first I never got my period back before getting pregnant with #2 (they are 2 years apart). With #2 I got it back after like 6 months or so. Now #3 is 13 weeks old and twice now, I’ve had weird days where my stomach hurts and I get a very small amount of blood coming out. I’ve been done with the lochia so I know it’s not that. I’ve also been having some pains in my stomach here and there – nothing consistent but not menstrual cramps. Has anyone experienced this or is it just me? Is it possible that I just got a really small period for one day each of the two months? My normal periods are heavy and last 7 days.

On a related note, is it possible to have damaged something during the birth process specifically related to the insertion of the catheter? I remember it being really painful at first even though I had the epidural at the time. The pain went away as the epidural got stronger so I forgot about it but I’ve been having issues with pain on urinating. I did go in once but they said I didn’t have a UTI. Anyone else have anything like this?

What can I do next?

They might have scrapped the inside lining of the bladder or more likely the insides of the urethra. The urine flowing over that scrape would be enough to cause pain and would explain any bleeding since you know you don't have a UTI. Not sure what they can do about it though.
best wishes that its nothing serious.

I had a swollen bladder after giving birth. I had one idiot nurse that kept telling me I had urinated, when I had not. After SIX hours of not urinating, I begged for them to put the catheter back in and over 2000 ml of urine came out. They couldn't even take it all out at once because that would cause seizures. I couldn't urinate by myself for the rest of the day and that night, but I still have problems feeling when I have to go (No, I don't pee my pants, but when I do feel like I have to go, it is at the point where I REALLY have to go). It did hurt and I was sore for a long time.
You might have had this as well. I bled a little bit due to having a kid and yes I did bleed due to the catheter and my bladder issue. Did they check for swelling? Are you urinating alright?
Yes, I would call the doctor just to be sure. You don't want to mess anything up!

If in doubt, go to the dr. After my 1st was born, I had a pain from where he stitched me up. Turns out a stitch came out & was causing the pain. My point is instead of wondering & worrying each day, make an appt. w/ your ob/gyn and have her take a look.

While I'm sure it's possible that something more is going on, and, depending on the pain you're feeling, should possibly have it checked out, i can also say that I got my period sooner with each subsequent child (to the point where I got it two weeks after my lochia stopped with #3) and, particularly with #2, my first periods were quite painful as well. Also, particularly with #3, they have been both very light and rather unexpected, coming not quite on the date I usually expect them (I'm generally like clockwork). I raced to my doc the minute I skipped a period after #2 and she said not to expect things to be normal, as I was exclusively breastfeeding (as I did with all of my kids).
