hello i was wondering if anyone would be able to help. i have a 27 month old daughter who started experiancing red patches of rash wiht white bubble bumps inside the rash. the rash started on memorial day and is still continuing. the weird thing is it will be in different spots and gets worse when she gets warm, takes a bath, and goes outside and plays. and it will reappear in different spots. she has seen the nurse at her dr office she says its hives but i was wondering if anyone else has ever had these on their child and what they did to get rid of them we have tried zyrtec and benadryl.

What can I do next?

Do you have a Dermetoligist? If so I wold get there opinion. Or if you do not have one you might want one. To me it does not sound like hives. Do the spots go away at all? I know chicken Pox pop out when you get warm.

Did you have your daughter in a hot tub this weekend? When the PH is off in a hot tub or a warm pool it can cause this type of rash. Not everyone is affected by this it depends on your skin type. Two people can be in the same affected hot tub and maybe only one will get it. It has happened to me and my neice and the only thing you can do is take daily oatmeal baths (Aveeno is good) and maybe apply cortisone to the itchy spots but try not to let her scratch because it will spread. Usually after about a week it will go away. The way you described the white bumps on the red spots reminded me of this. Good luck!

Because the child suffers from acid reflux as well, I would try eliminating dairy from her diet. My son also had a rash suddenly develop and once I took out dairy the rash and other symptoms disappeared within a day or two. No kidding. Give it a try this weekend, it can't hurt. Rice milk is an excellent alternative. Good luck!

Fifth's Disease. It can also be called Slap Cheek. It takes a while to clear up too. I had one of my kids have this last year, and another one had it this year. It's common for this time of year. I remember my daughter's rash flaring up anytime she was playing outside and got hot. There's absolutely nothing you can do for it. It's just a virus. Also, once they have the rash, they're no longer contagious. Hope it goes away soon!

My 14 month old son had the exact same thing. His came on after a case of the flu and was told that it was the virus working its way out. It continued for about 1 week with the large hives that actually came out more during bath time. They eventually became less and less and became more pimple like. It took about 3 weeks to totally go away. It is likely an allergy. We gave our son Benedryl. It did not make them go away, but lessened them and helped with his irritation. Hope that helps!

My daughter still wears night diapers and she gets rashes occassionally. I use Lotriman fungal cream and then I put diaper cream over that layer. This is what I have done since she was a baby. It goes away in a day or two. Then , I repeat the process when it happens and when I bathe her , I make sure I clean her bottom well.

My one year old gets those types of rashes too. It is called faliculitis (sp?). My Dr gave us a prescription for an ointment and we use it 3 times a day. It goes away, but every so often comes back again. I would see your doctor and not the nurse.

I went through this with my daughter as well, and it was hives. She was only 6 months when it happened and after the first spot I thought it was some type of spider/bug bite. But then it cleared up within 15 minutes and appeared somewhere else. They started out small, about the size of a quarter. After several hours they got considerably larger and because it was a weekend and her age I had to take her to the ER. The doctor there prescribed benadryl and I followed up with my pediatrician the next Monday. She concurred. The benadryl greatly reduced the size and frequency but didn't always take them away completely - however it was a huge improvement over no medicine at all. After about 2 weeks the spots stopped appearing. We never did determine what she was allergic to (no changes in anything we could think of) but the doctor said sometimes this was a reaction to a simple cold and not uncommon (and she did have a slight cold). The spots were red and raised and the inside white, in varying sizes. She didn't seem to notice them, even though I read they could be very itchy, and they came and went all over her entire body including her head.

I would google it. They put in exactly as your describing and something will come up. It will bring up pictures too and you can make sure it looks the same and go from there. Since it is still going on I would keep calling my doc. There's a reason she's doing this and you need to know why.

I had a similar experience with my twin boys. It turned out to be a yeast over-growth. L-acidophilus took care of it. My favorite one was A & B Biotropins from Daniel Chapter One. We were able to cure it up with no drugs at all.

my son had a similar rash in the diaper area and his ped said it was a yeast infection and suggested i put vaginal cream on it. sounds crazy, but it worked. :) also, try to keep the areas dry/dry them off/let them air dry completely, especially if they're in a spot that would be covered w/clothes or a diaper. of course, the only way to be sure what it is is to call/see the doc. good luck, m.
