B.B.
Don't know how much of this will help, but just to let you know you have a lot of company in this.
My hubby is an AVID weight lifter. I was raised with the excersize is a waste of time mentality. If you had energy to exersize, you arn't working hard enough. :-)
BUT in the last 9 years of marriage and after 3 kids i'm more on hubbys page. But my story sounds alot like yours... Tried lots, not giving up, but not losing...
There are some things that are personality things and will be hard to conquer. example? I am a hibernator. I would be happy if I didn't have to leave my house if the temp is below 40. BUT last spring Hubby decided that I was going to start walking. (I go along with 99 percent of his ideas...) So he started getting me up at 6 am and I would go out for a nice brisk walk of about 3 miles. Took about 30 min. Then I was back at the house and rarin to go before the kids got up. It was fine all summer, but then it started getting cold. (And as a side note, I didn't lose a pound)So I let hubby know he's gotta come up with something else... I stopped walking and with in a week I lost 5 lbs. lol (results not typical to quote the diet commercials)
Now hubby and I are lifting weight together WITH our kids in our basement. All it takes is a bench and free weights.
Try getting ahold of a "Shape" magazine. It has exersizes in it. Change it up. If you get bored with an exersize try something different.
This spring and summer load the kids in a stroller and explore your town.
I have a step aroebics step and DVD. It is sooo fun to have the kids try it with you.
The big thing is food. Hubby always said to "limit your intake and move more" as his way of being able to drop 20 lbs for "summer". Yes, he would purposely gain it in the winter and lose it in the summer. (I still get upset at his ability to do that. But he's recently not been able to lose those last 5 lbs... Its catching up with him I guess.)
We actually measure our food. Cerial, milk, drinks, meals everything.
Eat 3 servings for dinner, 2 for dinner and 2 for breakfast and eat 2 snacks of 1 serving a day. It doesn't matter WHAT you eat but of course you try to limit the high fat stuff and eat healthy.
Also give yourself a treat day. ONE treat. MCD"S for a meal, or a small ice cream cone, etc...
Do not eat till you are full. Just eat until you are not hungry. Even the small sizes of food is too much. Try kids meals.
I ignore the number on the scale as a guide. Use your clothes as a guide and the scale as a check... You can tone up and not lose a pound... But look thinner and feel better.
Try a balance ball, hand weights and a dvd.
Hubby has always been good at motivating himself, I need him to motivate me. Is hubby interested in working out with you? Maybe a neighbor, relative, or friend?
Good luck and stick with it. It will happen. AND you will enjoy it.
