I am trying to shed the weight I gained while pregnant with my second Son. I am eating healthy (oatmeal, protein, fruits and veggies) and trying to exersize on a regular basis. I have lost some weight but have a lot to go. Any weight loss tips??

muscle eats fat-use weights! You may weigh the same but fat wight and muscle weight in size are much different! Keep up the good work and continue to make healthy choices.
Here's what's been working for me in taking off the pounds:
-- Eating 4 to 5 small meals a day.
-- Limiting my calories to no more than 400 per meal.
-- Eating what I call the "Holy Trinity" at each meal: A small serving of lean protein (egg, cheese, hummus, roasted chicken), a small serving of healthy carb or a good fat (whole grain bread, Ak Mak crackers, almonds, olives, avocado), and a piece of fruit or some veggies.
-- Keep it simple. My meals are what I call "peasant fare" since they are pretty basic (e.g., bread with a piece of cheese and a piece of fruit, scrambled eggs with salad, or hummus with raw veggies and some Ak Mak crackers).
-- Write everything you eat down. It forces you to be accountable.
Good luck!
Hi M.,
The second baby always likes to hold on to the fat don't they? I can totally relate. After my 3rd baby in 3 1/2 years the weight just didn't melt off as soon as I would have liked it to. I started eating the Access bar that I get online. It tastes just like a candy bar in super yummy flavors like caramel cruncher and Chocolate mint that tastes just like an Andes mint bar. Anyway they are around 120-130 calories and are formulated to use your fat stores first for energy and leave your sugar stores last, so that you don't have the fatigue, muscle soreness etc. Several of my friends have lost wt as well. We just eat one about 15 minutes before we go to the gym or go out walking. They are the best things that I have come across that work as well as they taste!!
Hope your pounds just drip off you!!
keep track of everything you put in your mouth - food and drink - it is really eye-opening to see how every little thing adds up. There is a great website called www.thedailyplate.com that calculates all the nutritionals (calories, fat, carbs, etc) for you. You can also calculate how many calories you should be eating based on your age, height, weight and activity level, and also track how many calories you're burning with exercise. I've lost 20 pounds so far using this tool to track my calories eaten and burned. Good luck!
Hi M..
Aren't we all trying to loose weight, from pregnancy or just from letting life get in the way?
Well a great piece of advice! Eat eat eat!
People think that starving yourself is the way to get thin. Don't try the fad diets, most of them will just eliminate water weight, and realistically can you eat the way they want you to the rest of your life? No. You're gonna want to enjoy some fatty foods, a piece of cake, and other lifes enjoyments!
So eat!
I have a 9 meal a day plan that has worked for many people. It involves eating about every 2 hours before your body goes into starvation mode! Its well rounded and balanced! Really easy to follow. The more often you eat the higher your metabolism, the more fat burnt.
I'd LOVE to talk to you and anyone else about this meal plan. I could describe it now but this would be a long email. So please feel free to contact me.
I'm not going to waste your time, promise!
I am an aerobics instructor and have a degree in Kinesiology so I know a thing or 2 about fitness and health, eating right!
But also know what your doing is on the right tract you just need a little more direction!

Herbalife is great. Two delicious shakes a day (all different flavors) with vitamins and a sensible meal. Really works! Email me if you have any questions.

Hey M., I did see that someone else reccommended a cleanser. These do work, my girlfriend is on one and i have seen her wieght come off. But they are so expensive. I bought a cleanser from Trader Joe's a few weeks ago and to my surprise it worked wonders, it totally cleans you out and yes there is stuff in there that needs to come out. Its not tasty and a bit hard to swallow but its all natural and it only cost me $5.99. Its called Sectrets of the Psyllium. Trader Joe's, if you dont like it, keep your reciept they will take anything back. Good Luck!
I got the 6-week plan, think I posted it a couple of weeks ago. The interesting thing it explains about what we eat as well as how we exercise. It strongly recommended walking 4-5 times/week. And, not to fast, our heart rates should be only a certain level. I realized I was going way too fast on the treadmill and for only 30 min/day. The program recommended 45-60 min/day to effectively lose weight and at the proper pace to reach a maximum heart rate for our age. Also on diet, it recommended certain foods to help build lean muscle and lose fat.
Add weights or resistance exercises to your routine.
Also, try adding variable pacing to your exercises...meaing, if you are doing walking...try sprint a few yards then stopa nd walk again... or do up hills then down...or go up some stairs then back down, then walk again.
For me and lots of my friends, try cutting out "starches." I don't mean "carbs" but simple starches like white bread/white rice/pasta/potatoes etc. Go the whole grain route whenever you can.
All the best, I know how it feels... me too! My problem is I don't have much time to exercise...
take care,
Susan

With my baby boy I gained 28 pounds extra and lost right after 4 months with the help of Mummy magic weight loss tea.
Denise Austin's show does pilates, yoga, weights... short shows you can tape and do a couple a day or whenever you can fit one in. WALK. EAT and DRINK alot when you nurse.
M.,
I'm in the same boat, but I'm starting to see results. I've been working out at the gym 3-4 days a week, and trying to cut the volume of my food intake.
I'm not sure how fit you are, but I was pretty out of shape. It took me 6 weeks of going to the gym faithfully before I started to see results. I even gained a little weight at first. I still have about 10 - 12 lbs. to go, but I'm on the right track.
I had to work up to my current level of 40 min with my heart rate around 145 on the treadmill, but it wasn't until I took a core training class that I realized that I wan't working very hard (the class kicked my butt!) I was fatigued getting to my current level, but I feel great after workouts now.
Good luck and hang in there.
M.
Try www.fatloss4idiots.com (take no offense towards the name). You can eat all til you're satisfied. It uses regular foods. Its a food combining program. You can download 11 day diets over and over again. The program comes with a hand book and an excelerated fat burning program as well. This is a very doable program. It only requires walking. I bought the program on ebay for $6.99 It say's you can lose 9 lbs in 11days...I did!
Good luck, Becky
Hi:
You might consider taking an exercise prescription class at Fullerton College. It would teach you about YOUR body (as opposed to generic human or even female body); your body composition, and the testings through the semester will help determine exactly what type of exercise program suits you best. It also gives you an accountability factor and its a lot less expensive than joining a gym.
Best wishes,
M.
I did a couple 9 day cleanses through Isagenix after I couldn't loose the weight. I was told that sometimes you have so much crap in your system that the body can't get back to regulating itse;f (or something like that). It really worked for me.
If you want the name and number of the consultant I went through to ask questions, I would be happy to give it to you.
I can totally understand! Are you still BF? I just finished BF my daughter and started Lindora 5 days ago. I have lost 6lbs already!!! My goal is 25lbs. that will put me back at pre-pregnancy weight and hopefully back in my pre-pregnancy clothes.
I did this diet before getting pregnant with my first. I had lost 38lbs in 10weeks and then found out i was pregnant! lol
So i know it works and works fast! i am never hungry on the diet and i feel great! Its a lifestyle way of eating for me. I went through the program the first time but this time i am doing it on my own, and so far so good.
Also lots of excersize. I go jogging with my kids in the mornings and try and get my work out video done in the evenings as much as i can. this will also help
good luck, you can do it!! :) its so rewarding!!
Hi M.,
First of all congratulations on the weight you have lost. ALWAYS give yourself credit for that, no matter how far you feel you still need to go. May I recommend Weight Watchers? I have been doing it since January and I completely believe in it. No diet is going to be successful, only a lifestyle change. Once we change the way we look at food and see and feel the health benefits from eating healthy are we successful. I'd love to invite you to come to a meeting. I go at 930am on Tuesdays in El Segundo. But if that time doesn't work for you, find one that does. You'll have the support you need and tools to know exactly how to eat. I wish you all the success.
E.
I love Weight Watchers!
I have been on Herbal Life since June and have lost over 40 pounds.
I am involved with a Green Manufacturing Company that has incredible weight management snack foods, cereals, cookies and shakes that are high in fiber and low in sugar. One of my favorites is a chocolate peanut butter bar that you eat with your regular meal. It has a patent pending "crave-blocker" that helps prevent between meal snacking. It has helped me, in addition to eating right and exercise, get back to my pre-pregnancy weight since giving birth to my second child 4 months ago (I also have a 20 month old). Call me if you want to learn more about it and the many other great aides they have in weight management-

Keep thinking healthy, weight is coming off you just want to loss it faster, so sorry your doing it the best way to keep it off, lose it slow, this way it trains you to stay eating healthy, be patient
Hi M. -
On top of the correct eating and exercise, SLEEP is very important. The more you can get, the better your weight results... has something to with cortisol in the body.
Good luck, L.
I've tried a lot of things in my life, but monitoring calorie input vs. output is the only way I've lost weight successfully. Exccept the time I ended a 5 year relationship and was depressed and size 4 for two years- I was sad, but smokin hot! Seriously, listen to Gillian Micheal's show on the radio on Sunday mornings. I took her advice and had great success! Weight watchers also monitors calroies, but without all the tedious counting.
"Calories in calories out". You have to create a calorie deficit to lose weight. But if you over restrict, your metabolism slows. So you have to fly under the radar by only restricting a couple hundred calories a day. And the only way to do this is to count calories and keep a food journal- ugggggh!
I lost 17 lbs this way and hit my goal weight. Here's the honest part- its hard work. But like most things that are hard, if you succeed, they are worth it. Like college, at the time it was hard, but when you finish you look back and say, that wasn't so hard. Weight loss is the same way.
The south beach cookbook!! YOu are able to cook food that your family will love and lose you weight. I gained 90 lbs during my pregnancy, yes I know way to much but I was literally starving. The south Beach is the only diet that I can be on and not make my family suffer when it come time to eat.
I tried Jenny Craig and weight watchers but the weight has come off faster and stayed off with the south beach. Get the cookbook, it makes it so easy. Your husband and kids will be eating healthy and loving it. They also have a south beach forum with mny recipes and reviews. It is all free except for the book. Good Luck!!
Hi Meg,
Now I don't know if weight issues have been a lifetime problem but normally, if our body is funtioning at it's optimal level, the 15 pounds you gained during pregnacy should be gone before your 6 week check-up. If you gained more during pregancy or have been overweight even just a little, then you may have a Leptin problem that keeps your brain from regulating the amount of fat your body should store.
To learn about this dilema by watching a video, go to:

I've lost more inches then pounds, mostly around my waist, hips, and backside and I am no longer hungry.
BTW: I'm in a wheelchair and do "Chair Dancing" exercises 6 days a week.

Hi M.,
Two good friends of mine and I have done Isagenix post-pregnancy and lost quite a bit of weight. It's a cleanse program that is easy to do but it's not about depriving yourself of food. I also no longer crave sugar. I still do the shakes for convenience and find I have a lot of energy as a result. Check it out at banishyourcravingsloseweight.isagenix.com.
Good luck!
