I weaned my first baby at 14 months- my 2nd at 12 months, & my third is on the way & I'll probably do it right about 10 months or so. I remember dropping feedings with the bottle gradually, and definitely using the sippy cup at "meal times". I think I was only using the bottle right away in the morning & right before bed & then switched to the sippy cup. I remember my daughter liked using the sippys with the softer spouts at first, b/c they mimicked a bottle. Don't stress about it-- soon your baby girl will be old enough to recognize all the princesses & etc. & will LOVE the sippy cups just because they are on them!

My first child was off the bottle by 12 months. My second, by 10 months. My twins who are going on 14 months are showing very little interest in a sippy cup. You could try to make it more appealing by adding diluted juice. I'm using the Born Free training cups-so far, so good. It took three differnt types of cups before I found one that would work for my boys. Don't give up, you might just keep trying different brands

Now would be a great time, because the earlier it happens the easier it can be. I tried around 10 months, however it did not work so well. My son loves his sippy cups and uses them well during the day, however he still won't let go of his nighttime bottle, which I have finally decided to quit batteling him about. We tried the CIO approach when we went cold turkey and it really doesn't work on my kid with sleep or bottles. Check out BabyCenter.com, as they just had an article about this. I also spoke with our peds, and was told that this was probably not a battle to continue fighting with my son. I just brush his teeth after his nighttime bottle to cut down on the possibility of cavities, but the rest of the day he uses a sippy cup. I found great sippy cups from Gerber at any grocery store which are supposed to promote the switch and really did the trick. I left 2-3 of them out in his play room while he was down there, and he at first tried to play with them and then gradually realized what they were for. I didn't make a big deal about them, but he recognizes what they are now and brings them to me when they are empty.

I didn't start weaning from the bottle until my boys' first birthday. I took it away cold turkey and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! I put all the bottles away so they wouldn't accidentally see one.

The sooner the better. I weaned my daughter to a sippee cup at eight months and had no problems. I just went cold turkey. The older they get, the harder it is.

Right now is a good time to introduce the juicy cup. Put only water or juice in the juicy cup. This is why: wait until you are switching to whole milk to introduce the milk in the juicy cup. At 12 months we used it for whole milk.. which they didn't like.. so we put powdered strawberry quick (very little) in it and it worked..we never gave them the bottle again.. we would sit up with them before bedtime and give them their juicy cup and then put them to bed when they were done. we did not give them the juicy cup in bed. hope this helps.
